(Question) What's the best ddr5 to get? Faster speeds x Lower Timings

Hey guys,

Trying to start my migration to Z790/690. Being used to B-DIE for the last 4 years. Any clue how DDR5 is doing right now.

If you plan on using ADL + Z690, Hynix M-Die is the best kit, probably can clock 7000/7200 c30/32 for daily use.
If you plan on using RPL + Z790, Hynix A-Die is the best kit.

For AM5, right now, both Hynix M-Die or Samsung B-Die are the best kits because both can do tighter primary timings om AM5, whereas using Hynix A-Die will probably be a waste as AM5's current IMC are limited at 6400 max.

usually from the speed and the primary timings:
> Micron: 5200mhz and under, max 5600 with timings 40-40-40-40
> Samsung B-Die: 5600mhz up to 6000mhz, with timings 36-36-36-36
> Hynix M-Die: jedec 4800 with timings 40-40-40-40 (klevv black pcb), upper speed: 6000~6400 with timings 30-40-40-40 or 32-38-38-38
> Hynix A-Die: jedec 5600 with timings 40-40-40-40 (hynix green strips or klevv black pcb), upper speed 6400~8000 with timings 34-42-42-42 or other loose timings config

That's definitely the A-Die kits with unlocked PMIC.
But I wouldn't touch it with that price haha.

What is your platform choice? RPL or AM5?
If RPL, you will need competent mobo to reach 8000mhz++ for daily.
For modest 7200 ~ 7600, you can consider these kits:

This kit is probably the same A-Die you mentioned above, but with lower speed, tighter primary timings and lower vdimm. It's sold at lower price ($100 lower though haha) due to a bit lower binned chip but it may reach 8000++.

This kit can be M-Die, but it has 30% chance to be based on A-Die but with earlier batch.
If it's M-Die, it can probably reach 7600-7800 with tighter timings compared to A-Die.
If it's A-Die, it can probably reach 8000~8200.

If you want to bet, then this kit might be worth it ($35 cheaper than option #1)

3. Lastly:

At $199, this is the lowest price, same with #2, it can be A-die but this time, maybe with a probability of 10% only.

LOL I know right? I don't really care for aesthetics but performance. If the gskills were around the same price I would get them taking on selling in the future would be easier.
 
Keep in mind that, once you get past about DDR5 7200-7400 ---- the RAM becomes very temperature sensitive. 8000 is so temperature dependant, you would be hard pressed to use it longer than running a benchmark, before it warms up and becomes unstable (even with a really good fan setup to blow directly on it).

I actually still have my Corsair Dominator Platinum Airflow cooling the b-die gskill. I could repurpose that.
