My wifes workplace blocked Sirius recently so I want to be able to record Howard Stern so my wife can listen to it at work on her Ipod Touch. Right now I unplug my speakers and plug in a 3.5mm cable from the output of the sound card to the input and record it that way. But i'm tired of switching my speaker out put to this other cable so I can record it every morning. Would 3.5mm splitter work? Or do I need a headphone jack switch to switch back and forth between the speakers and the input on the sound card. I know there is an easy answer.

Audacity should be able to record anything...I've used it to record ambient streams from bluemars.org for years.

Where is the source of the audio?

If it's internet radio then it's already digital. You can just record it directly to your hard disk.

No point in converting it to analog to go out your sound card through a cable and back to digital again when it goes back into your computer.
