Question about monitor (discoloration)

Looks like damage to the panel from too much pressure being placed in that spot. You can try massaging it lightly, but I can't guarantee any improvement.

By massaging it, would I just take a piece of clothe and rub the panel/screen?
 
Either a soft cloth or your finger. Only a small amount of pressure is necessary.

It might have been damaged in shipping, or possibly during assembly. Any damage to the box it came in around that general area?
 
The box is actually close to flawless. It doesn't seem to be damaged in any way.

The massage technique did not change too much. I suppose it isn't as bad as before, but that might just my imagination and wishful thinking lol
 
If the massage didnt work perhaps it's time to consider a return if you can't deal with the spot(always drives me crazy to not have a flawless monitor) :(
