Hey all,

I recently bought newer RAM for my main rig and thought I'd put my older memory in my backup computer.

Currently the backup is running 2gb (1gb x 2) of ddr2 667 on Windows Vista home premium 32 bit. Would adding an additional 2gb (1gb x 2) of ddr2 800 cause any potential issues? Or would all sticks just default to 667mhz?

If there's no issues, what would you think is better for overall system responsiveness and gaming? 4gb of mixed ram, or just 2gb of ddr2 800mhz?

Thanks for your input!

All sticks would default to DDR2 667 speeds. For overall system responsiveness, 4GB of RAM is the better choice. For gaming, neither setup has an advantage over the other in gaming performance. At least with 4GB of RAM you can leave more apps running in the background while you game.
