#QuakeCon2018 Keynote with DOOM Eternal Gameplay Reveal

Whoever one of you guys came up with the Doom Arena term a few months ago was dead on the money.

This looks a lot like Shadow Warrior 2 in a all the good ways. So it begins. A Doom universe is born. Quake is done for know. Chamions would have to be recreated using id's own tech for the game to work

Champions is actually fine for what it is. It's not however a Q1, Q2, Q4 style Quake game. That's what I'd like to see, and if they put one of those out, you're right, it would HAVE to be on id Tech 6 or later. Champions is basically a modern Quake Live, and I think it's just fine for that. They need to add content, and fix some things, but it's pretty solid. The thing that would put it over the top though would be private or dedicated servers. Not going to happen though.

Doom though. Doom is looking delicious.

Hmm... I wonder if there's room for a little crossover action in this Doom Universe... perhaps... a Strogg invasion?

Looks like more of the same as Doom 2016, which is not a bad thing. One thing did catch me off guard was the 1-up in the demo. Um... that's new. Must be for a particular game mode where it doesn't feel out of place. I'm also hoping that some of the stuff you pick up later in the game, IE the wrist blade and the should mounted flame thrower if just to build pacing and introducing new glory kills etc. keep the game feeling fresh. Sounds like it also has some good old fashion co-op which was the one thing missing from the 2016 version. Also looking forward to the new sound track. Still listen to the 2016 sound track today.

Eh, no Champions is not like a modern QL. I might have been but it isn't. Looks like they are going all in with this Doom universe thing. Gameplay looks fantastic but it kind of seems they are throwing anything they can think of. Not saying it's bad. Lately it's been working great for them

What's with the graphics not really advancing though. Are we stuck again? If they're building a MMO like game then I totally get their earlier comments about the new engine using lots of cores. Well sure just not for pushing more pixels.

i noticed that too. what is the one up?

I am not a man that believes in pre-orders, or in buying games before trying them out and spending good time with them (or at the very least checking out a bunch of reviews). I did not purchase Doom 4 until after I used a friend's copy to play through the entire game and had spent about 24 hours with it. Then I bought the game and put in almost 200 more hours (still have never touched multiplayer). Yes, I bought the game, despite never wanting to give money to Bethesda, and despite the game using Denuvo (which was thankfully removed later). I needed to give id Software money for their effort. Now here is Doom Eternal, not coming out until sometime in 2019 (I think), and already I want to give them my money. What the fuck is happening? So many changes happening in my body, I don't understand them. I was looking at the Doom Eternal footage and the snake in my pants got very stiff. Am I normal?

Just the Doom Eternal stuff here:
Looking forward to seeing masterful usage of Vulkan once again. Also do you guys remember what Robert Duffy said about Ryzen and idTech 7? https://hardforum.com/threads/id-software-on-amd-ryzen.1930715/

Yes. It is called puberty and it is normal. Here, have some aural viagra to help you:
and if it lasts more than four hours, see a doctor.
