how do you get to the expert portal? I used the ol 'rocket jump' technique from q1 to get to advanced, but couldn't figure out the last portal...
Easiest way is to just start strafe jumping out of the rocket jump landing. Use that momentum to carry you through. The other way is to master circle strafe jumping to get more speed than a standard strafe jump.
F.E.A.R. - regarding maps, some of the maps are from Q3 and Team Arena but usually updated to address certain issues. There are also a handful of new maps which you will see from time to time as well.
but i want my aluminum tin collectors case!
Christ those servers got pounded.....shouldn't closed beta members get priority?
mine is sitting right next to my RTCW tin case...well it was the linux version but its still the tin case
I miss the closed beta...boo
I got threw, went threw the 10 minute computer match again. My fps was at 110-125 which is weird considering I can run this game at 250+fps with full graphics+16xaf and 24xaa.
Yea, got the Quake 3 Arena collectors tin at Microcenter years ago for a few bucks, it was the Linux version, but there was an easy way to install it on windows, which I have long since forgotten.
In regards to the 125fps, thats the minimun you need to be able to to do all the trick jumps in q3. i got my p2 450@504 with tnt1 to run q3 in places 125fps so i could do the trick jumps. It looked worse than an atari though.
What? Teh human eye can't tell the difference up past 60 fps for sure...

Uhmmm... I can easily spot the difference between 30, 60, 70, 85, 90, and 100, even 110 or 120 Hz easily...
Not sure what it is with all those "normal" Humans out there, but I sure as hell ain't one of 'em.
I'd like to submit for consideration that the frequency of a CRT and the FPS in a game on an LCD are, in fact, two entirely different things.Uhmmm... I can easily spot the difference between 30, 60, 70, 85, 90, and 100, even 110 or 120 Hz easily...
