I know we have an official C2D Overclocking thread, but it appears to me almost every other question is about the Q6600.

So in this thread, post your scores, settings etc. Maybe even why you chose the Quad over the other C2D's.

Any other Quad is welcome to post too. Q6600, Q6700, etc...

Here is my stuff...

My Specs are in my signature, but the screen-shots pretty much tell you too!

I chose the Quad Core due to reading and seeing the ease of ocing it and knowing I could have a $1,000 processor at the time for only $269.00

It also gave me the since I could rip Music, DVDs, etc and encode a little faster and utilize multi-tasking.

Best of luck Quad Club! :D

that´s a very nice overclock, with "low" voltage ;)

Q6600 @ 3.2 (356X9), 1.264V [which is default voltage]. HSF = Noctua NH-U12F, can't hear it over the system fans (default medium in an Antec P182). At 100% CPU, 48C is the normal temperature. Prime95 multicore stress brings the cores up to 56C.

Currently with 2GB OCZ Gold XTC DDR2-800, more in the mail. I couldn't pass it up at <$20 per two 1GB sticks. I guess I'll own six sticks in the end...four should do though.

Along with a Galaxy 8800GT @ 700+/1800+/1800+, I get ~14000 3DMarks in 06.

Running 24/7 rendering "electric-sheep" style 3D fractal animations... at 1920X1200. I'm never rendering at 1920X1200 again. Hell, it'll take ~2 weeks @ 100% cpu [but it's still usable for everything, including gaming! BioShock, HL2, etc all work perfectly. Not quite as perfectly as without the low-priority 100% cpu usage, but except for longer load times, no problems.] to generate 36 seconds (1080 frames) of animation.

Next time I'm rendering in 720p. That'll be good enough. Jeez. Or I guess I could set up a server and run idle-priority single-frame renders automatically on the computers of everyone I know...

350 x 9... Q6600... 3.150 ghz

Stock volts, have had it for a few hours, Tuniq w/ AS5... mediocre temps, but it's stable so far. I'm happy for changing the FSB value and testing a few times... :D

Funny how Orthos and WinXP detect it as 3.6GHz. Same OC on my previous P5E and Maximus Formula. Thermalright Ultra 120 eXtreme

I think your temps might be off by 15*C

100% load for a Q6600 at 35*C is pretty ridiculous... Mine hangs out aruond 40*C idle... Never goes above 60*C on load...

I think so because I didn't lap my HSF or CPU. However I do have a 250mm fan blowing cool air inside the case. 50C on load is not bad imo.

I can't wait to get rid of my quad core in lieu of an eight core.. I wonder if my Vapochill will hold the temps down or if it will be too much for it to handle..?

I'm surprised the Vapochill could handle the quad-core... I thought they were supposed to have issues with quad's

Well I have the Lightspeed.. It does OK.. the new 45nm quads do really well. A buddy has one of those quads 24/7 at 4.3ghz.

I have 2 QX6800's and could get 3.6Ghz stable since I have stock cooling on both. Both of em could go 4.0Ghz but it'd get way too hot when running orthos.

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 G0 @ 3600mhz (400x9)
L738A999 SLACR

vcore: 1.4v set in bios (1.38 idle, 1.36 load)
NB: 1.33v
ICH: 1.25v
vmem: 1.9v set in bios (1.88 shown)

Idle: 50C
Load: 60C

Very proud of this chip. Put a Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme with a Yate Loon 120mm fan on it.

QX6700 here stable at 3.905ghz.. But, it's probably not a fair comparison because I am on a phase change setup..

My system wouldn't boot at 3.6GHz but I managed to boot into windows at 3.4GHz but didn't stress test it. Currently doing 3.0GHz

My q6700 runs stable at 3.5GHz, boots at 3.6GHz.

New build, still working on things.. But I'm happy with this OC so far:

Mobo: Asus Maximus Formula (X38)
CPU: Q6600 G0
CPU HSF: Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme (good'ol TRUE) (w/ AS Ceramique)
Fan on TRUE: Scythe Slipstream 120mm (1900rpm, 110cfm)
RAM Patriot 4gb (2x2gb) PC2-6400 4-4-4-12 (PDC24G6400LLK)
case: Thermaltake armor, replaced with faster fans, including faster 250mm fan on side window

Results:
First off, the Patriot RAM isn't quite as good as I hoped. It won't boot windows when set at the rated speed of ddr2-800 @ 4-4-4-12 2.2v .. It will only boot at ddr2-800 with timings loosened to 5-5-5-15.

Best overclock so far: 400x9 (3.6ghz), ddr2-800 @ 5-5-5-15, vcpu = 1.45v(BIOS), 1.432 (windows, idle), 1.424 - 1.432 (windows, load)

Temps measured with CoreTemp (ambient is probably 21-22c):
idle core0/1 = 35/38, core2/3 = 32/33
load core0/1 = 66/66, core2/3 = 61/61

I have my Q6700 @ 3.33GHz, I'm going to push it higher when my thermalright HR-05's and HR-09 comes.

I want to go higher, maybe 3.75 Ghz but I will need to set aside two days for stress testing and tweaking..

I've been stable for months. Looking to go WC to bring temps down.

I didn't get the best VID, but it still works. I may go and get a Yorkfield in a few months and I can use this one in another box.

Bullen...that...is insane! Too bad I don't have $1100 to waste on a processor :(

You're the first person I've seen to break 20GHz!

a cpu costing $1100 or well $1200 as i paid (hand picked from china) is no reason for it not to be tortured ;) gotta get me a better motherboard so i can up that voltage some more. i know this particular cpu can do 5.7Ghz on Ln2 so i just need better cooling and more voltage :p

Heres mine.

aeth6a.png

I could boot to 3.6.. but its not stable @ 1.45v. I would rather not push more volts, as the temps were too high for my liking. 3.2 for me.. as the voltage is pretty good, as well as temps. Maybe if I get the courage to lap my ultra 120 and q6600.. ill try 3.6, but i'm fine with my temps now and my o/c unlapped.

Q6600 G0 bought from newegg 2 weeks ago - 3.51ghz @ 1.40v, overnight 10+ hours stable quad prime95. Trying to get 3.6 (400x9) stable but after about 4 hours of prime95 the system rebooted spontaneously. 3.51 is 'good enough' i guess, but i want 3.6 :-P Anyone know if it's normal to have to boost motherboard FSB voltages when you go to 400+fsb on the p35 boards? (i've got a p35 ds4) I haven't tried that yet...

I have to "boost" my motherboard settings once I start getting closer to 400FSB. My overclock right now is at 3.51GHz, though come summer I'll reduce it to either 350x9 or 370x9 depending how much I still care about my temperatures then.

Highest I've ever booted into Windows was with 1.5V and 450x9. I was idling at around 50C with my TRUE. Took a few runs to get a PI result, it would crash about 3/4 the time. I loaded up prime, and within 3 seconds my temps shot above 70C and my computer froze.

try Peltier... Or maybe Phase, I doubt water could get that low, at that speed.
Unless your in a meat locker with nice insulation??

I don't know what Peltier is...I thought Phase could get it down to at least negatives.
