I have a Qidi 3 plus. It’s got all the processing power to do self leveling (z axis), but does not have the capability.

Do you know of a good Qidi forum to look for answers?

Or

Do you know how to get it done?

I really doubt there is going to be an “official” way to get it done, since they really want to sell you that new printer. I have been looking on Reddit and there is some good information on a guy that replaced a few inexpensive pieces and has all new control software (replaced the stock firmware) for a modest increase in function.

I hate bed leveling. Should have gotten the Bambu, and now I am waiting for Bambu to release an update and buy that. Once the lawsuits are settled.

Doesn't the x plus 3 have ABL via an inductive probe? Or am I wrong?

Yes, but still need the initial calibration. I didn’t realize how much that irritates me. Should have done more research on the initial calibration (set up).

Like the Bambu.

What initial calibration? Z offset? Or leveling the bed corners or something?

Usually an initial calibration can be saved to the device. On my old ender 3 with a bltouch it was something like a G500 command to save and G501 to load config, though I can't remember for sure. It was nice to be able to run a 49 point auto level once and just keep re-loading it until the bed went out of whack again.

If you do end up going bambu eventually it isn't all sunshine and roses. The PEI build plates make the auto flow calibration not work right and the regular build plates needs gluestick applied and cleaned fairly regularly. Also I'd much rather a multi toolhead design than the ams but the ams does get the job done, its just slow and wasteful. I also really wish it had a chamber heater, orcaslicer does let you set a target chamber temp but it can take a long time. I keep my printer in the same room as my servers to help keep it hot.

That being said it beats the pants off messing with my old ender 3 for hours every time I wanted to print something.
