I own a Plextor PX-708a DVD burner. Just today I tried to burn several dvds, the buffer in the burner just fluctuates like nuts, going from 90% - 33% then to 50% -23%. And I have DMA turned on. So any help would be appreciated!

Chipset drivers up to date? Make sure there are no processes running in the background, defrag HDD.

Tried it again today, defragged and nothing running in the background. I get the same result, buffer fluctuating like crazy

are you using an nforce2 chipset board? up until the latest sw ide drivers i had to keep them uninstalled otherwise my plextor 40/12/40a would do the same thing. default windows drivers didnt.

Also, make sure you disable Windows' own IMAPI CD-Burning service.

How do you do that? Btw, I am using an Intel 865 motherboard..so I don't think it is the drivers that is causing this problem.

Start->Run->Services.msc

Go to "IMAPI CD-Burning Service", right-click -> disable.
