PSU sleeving - removing 2 in 1 cables on single rail

Hey Guys,

I'm gearing up to make my own ATX cable for my Seasonic X850 Gold. I'm noticing that some of the pins on the mobo side have two cables going to them. The PSU side has two modular connectors, I assume one of the two goes to the smaller connector is looks to be a smaller gauge.

I was just thinking that since this is a single rail PSU, what difference would the second cable make? Can I just leave it out?
 
On another note - I see some people making custom PCI-E modular cables that daisy chain two 6 pin connectors off one whip. Is that cool with 18AWG wire?
 
One of those small wires is Sense. It measures voltage at the connector and tells whether or not there's a voltage drop. If you removed it your PSU would operate less efficiently.
