With all the q6600 hype Im gonna bite. SO far I have:

2x 22" WS LCDs
CPU: q6600
HD: 500gig SATA 32mb cache and 200gb PATA 16mb cache
DVDRW
2x2gb DDR800 - wanting to exand to 8gb
VIsta 32bit Business

Im basically wanting a PSU that won't be flaky with a stable mobo with the q6600 and very possibly 8gig of ram. Im putting the vid card on hold for now.

I've been eyeballing an OCZ 700 watt and a cheaper Biostar TFORCE mobo for ~75.

Any suggestions?

A P35 board -- Gigabyte or Abit. Get the one that has the feature set you'll need.

PSU, Corsair 520HX or 620HX. Stay away from that OCZ -- out of spec ripple on the 12v rail at high load. There are far better options out there.

What are you thinking of going with when you get a vid card? SLI? That is an important factor in the PSU selection unless you want to upgrade later.

All Corsair PSU's are good... Forton, Seasonic, Antec and Enermax are other good brands

I would go HX520 if you are going to be using a single video card

Antecs are trash save for the more recent lines. TruePower/TruePower IIs are horrible.

Also, SLI means you have to run an Nvidia chipset... which, first up, isn't cheap -- you'd want a 780i with a quad -- and second, comes with a number of potential issues the Intel chipsets generally don't.

No SLI< probably ~$200 for a video card. I have a 480watt powering my old x2 system with a couple of gigs of RAM and few HDs. I guess I'm willing to let budget take over a little and I"m trying to find a good combo of things currently on sale of have a good price tag.

That PSU currently runs $130 @ newegg and I'm sure I wouldn't be pulling high amounts of power. Just a thought, definately will go with a different mobo.

Edit: Whats up with p35s being popular in particular? I haven't seen Intel so popular in chipsets since skt370 and AMD ruling days. I have seen a few p35s that only suuport 4gigs of memory, some have bad reviews in general, some need BIOS flashes for various things. Anyone running a Q6600 with vista and >=4gb RAM on a mobo without conflict? I feel I've read newegg 200 times over.

Ditch it. Oh wait, you're getting a new one for the new system, right? If so, good. If not, you really should, lol. Raidmax's are notorious for poor quality PSUs, especially for gaming rigs. Go with a Corsair.

Intel chipsets have always been popular for Intel builds. 440BX, 865PE, P965, P35... etc. P35's OC great, have less compatibility problems, and run cooler than the available nForce chipsets.

The DFI is good if you like tweaking every little tiny setting possible on a mobo. If you want simple yet great OC'ing, go with any of these boards: Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L, DS3R, DS3P, DS4, Abit IP35-E, IP35, IP35 Pro, Asus P5K, P5K-E.

If you want 4GB of RAM, and want to take advantage of it, get Vista 64-bit instead. 32-bit won't give you access to all 4GB of RAM.
