Name changes on PlayStation Network are almost here, but there appears to be a catch: according to a disclaimer seen in the beta, doing so may result in loss of content including “virtual currency, game progress like saved game data, leaderboard data, and Trophy progress.” Apparently, not all games and applications support the online ID change feature.

It's difficult to tell from the disclaimer how widespread these bugs could be, or even if Sony is simply covering its bases by warning of possible complications. Still, if you've been looking forward to changing your name you may want to wait for more information on how common these problems are.

Stupid programmers probably using the user's user name and not their uuid.
Yeah, some leaks have said developers have known for months this was coming to give them a chance to update their games. I expect most modern games will support this, but some really old titles that are no longer supported will not be compatible.

This could be abused too. For games that use username if a user changes their name with unlocks, etc if another person changes to the other user's original name, the user will gain all the unlocks, etc for free
