PS3 on a DELL 3007WFP

I'm using my PS3 with an HDMI -> DVI cable on my Dell 2407 and it works great for both Games and Blue-Ray. I don't see why it wouldn't work on the 3007. The only semi-bad thing would be the 1920x1080 video would be stretched to 2500x1600. So a bit of quality loss, unless you can set the monitor to 1:1.

As far as I know, it won't work unless you have a $300 converter box that converts your signal to 1280x800 DVI or 2560x1600 DVI. The 3007 can't render any other resolution you send it.

There are converter boxes that can output those resolutions?
A pc that has blackmagic pci-e x1 card that is able to capture/stream 1080p..but without HPCP so you could not also.....

Any monitor with DVI HDCP compliant should work however I don't know how the DELL will handle 1080P mode via the PS3.

damn i was wondering what it would do about the scaling...

Why is it able to work with the 2407? i know it has other inputs..component, etc, but how is it working via the DVI cable, is it because its not Dual Link? Its native res is 1920x1200 not 1920x1080.. so does it stretch those extra 120 lines?

We have a 30" Dell at work and I set the resolution to be 1920x1080.
It looks ok..not as good as native of course but interpolation I think for gaming for the PS3 would be fine.

So anyone who has a PS3, get a HDMI-DVI cable (from monoprice.com) and give it a go.

actually now that i think about it, in the same token, would i be able to hook up my DCT6412 motorola HD receiver to my Dell? I may just buy a dvi/hdmi cable and test these out.

From what I've hear that only works with video cards that can be set to upscale the resolution BEFORE output. As far as I've heard the 3007 can only accept a 1280X800 or 2560X1600 input itself. Unless you're PS3 can upscale to those resolutions (exactly, I think another poster mentioned 720P doesn't work), it's not going to work.

You're right, this Dell monitor only supports those 2 resolutions. Sad.

Bummer, I wanted to hook my PS3 up to my 3007- sounds like I might have better luck with our 2407 instead. :(
It has to look better on one of our monitors than it would on any of our HDTV's right (1081i, 720p)?
