My PS3 is a 60gb launch console and it makes a whining noise when I fold. I think folding puts more work on the cell then any game. I wouldn't call it an airplane though.
I am stupid or got sensitive earing. I got my new 40gb ps3, and this one seems alot louder then the other one. Should I get a 80gb ps3 (looking through the cooling vents the 40gb is got all aluminum coolers vs copper on the 80gb)
My room is small. Even when playing a DVD at a lower volume I can the hear the fan. I plan to return it to Dell. These things are good for people with bigger rooms and that play sound loud.
Thanks for all the help.
I have a strong feeling the 80gb version may be quitter then the 40gb since it uses copper heatsinks. You must have got a dud because mine is whisper quiet. I cannot hear anything no matter how close I am when I first turn it on. If I play for more than an hour or so then I can sometimes hear the fans kick on, but it is extremely quiet when comparing it to my 360 DVD drive (which is loud, but not unbearable). I do currently own an 80gb version though.
