First im going to give the run down of the entire network setup.

Ok so the network i'm on runs through a proxy server for web filtering. Blocking porn, torrenting and such. The internet from the isp comes in via WiMax and from the receiver it goes into the computer hosting the proxy sever. The internet after the proxy sever goes into a switch that connects about 30 devices via LAN connection and one amplifier that supplies WLAN connection to about 50+ devices. The proxy software used is IPfire. its an open source program available for free download.

The computer hosting the proxy is an old dell that was a windows xp computer that was used for cadding about 8-9 years ago. what would be some ideal specs for such a computer. Even a better proxy server software that is better than a 'free-open-sourced' piece of crap. Its seriously malfunctioning. like right now i cant go on a subreddit because its blocking it. in a few minutes i'm sure i'll be able to go on it again. the access denied page that comes up on it is not the one that should come up when it blocks the content it should. every website i've had this issue it says something about "domain cannot be reached" or "proxy cannot determine website ip address"

im to the point where im going to thrash the shit out of that computer if only there wouldn't be so many finger point back at me. what is the biggest issues I'm facing with this network configuration?

You know that your having dns issues right?
Check the dns settings on the proxy computer.
My guess is there are invalid dns servers set up on it.
Change it to google open dns servers for testing.

also check the dns settings on the computers and any forwarders you have set up.

im not the administrator of the network but what could i have him check and change accordingly?

easier said than done......that moody som' b!tch running that thing is a force to be reckoned with ;) but thanks :)
