upgraded from a Ti4200x8agp 64mb

3dmark01se on old card 11940 - using 52.16 driver
3dmark01se on 6800GT almost 15k - using 66.93 driver

i honestly expected more

tried doom3/farcry/hl2/

imo only hl2 look better, sure the gameplay is smoother and all, but i dont notice the better bumpmaps and the fancy bells&whistles like i expected..

anything i should try to run too see if i got my $500 worth ?

perhaps try the nVidia GT demos ??

to tell you the truth: you shouldnt have gotten that. if you spent 500 for that 128mb GT then i think you should go and try to get your money back, ASUS 6800 cards are not good from everything ive seen

More system specs.

What the...? You spent $500 on a " Asus v9999GT 128MB?" Why didnt you get the Ultra or the x800 XT? Is that US money?

List full specs.

I upgraded from Radoen 8500 128mb to Geforce 6600GT AGP and I kinda feel the same. It runs faster and can handle newer games better but I feel as though the actual performance upgrade almost does not merit the amount of money I spent.

I think it's just my pitiful 266mhz FSB paired with a 2100+ lol.

I get 15k 3dmarks on my old Ti4400, I suspect that you need a cpu upgrade

sry for the lack of specs.. lol

i paid $480 CDN after taxes for it..

PC specs are:

XP Barton 2500+ stock
768ddr ram single channel.. :(
maxtor 80gig 7200rpm
asus a7n8x rev 2 mobo

heres the stuff.. and i've always loved asus stuff, esp vid cards

my first 3D card was a Diamond voodoo2, after that i've always had Asus cards... GF2MX then Ti4200/8x/64ram and now 6800GT/128ram <-- btw this is the cheapest i could find it at :(

the first game i tried was doom3 and i expected it to look much better, i still think it looks like my ti4200... :(

yea i got a 16782 or something with the the comp in my sig, and thats with a shitty 5900xt

o i should add ur 128mb asus card ( i think its a gt version?) is only ddr memory and not ddr3 :p , that may be another reason y ur "dissapointed" and that ti4000 card is dx 8 right?? ur new card should be dx 9 so mess around with ur settings in doom...

any program i can use to find out what card i actually got ?

will rivatuner do it ?

I got 21160 3d mark 2001 SE with a Radeon 9800 Pro. I guess it is your system that is not pushing the video fast enough. Keep in mind that 3d mark 2001 is more sensitive to system changes than video card changes. So, if you want to know how really your video card performs then you should try 3d mark 2003 & 2005.

3Dmark01 is for Computer, Mark03 will give you a better guage for your videocard.

You ran the wrong test bud,

is the asus 6800 gt i just ordered like 4 hours ago, its a 6800gt with 256mb ddr3 (i wouldnt listen to most people saying the asus cards suck)

even the reviews of the GE version were good and the gt version is even faster then the GE

i have extra fans for the top and bottom of my card so im not worried about cooling

Hey, that video card is not even shown on Asus website! Well, finally, it seems that Asus has decided to bring us a TRUE 6800 GT.

I read something about this one. From what I remember it's very overclockable. Did you guys notice the dual power connectors that it has like the ultra?

just did a default 3dmark03 bench and got 9165 3d marks...

iirc i used to get below 3k-2.5k with my old card...

i'll try 3dmark05 later on..

but this still doesnt explaing the quality of doom3.. which i think it sux

i'll see what i can do about it.

well ur 3dmark scores are good, and i think 3dMark 05 is useless, so if i was you i would be happy. But if it dosent peform in games do a format/install or return it.

Even though it's labeled as a GT, that thing is nothing more than a 16 pipe version of a regular 6800 card. Same frequencies and everything.

Ok...don't worry about your 3DMark01 score at all. It is almost completely CPU dependent! So your 2500+ is holding you back.
(just look at how the above 3DMark01 scores above correspond to each person's CPU)

When i went from my 9800XT to 6800GT my 3Dmark01 score went from 15,000 to 17,000. Big woop.

My 3DMark03 score went from 6,500 to 11,000! SHHWEEEEEEEET!!! :D

So concentrate 3DMark03 score which looks just right. Then you will be fine. And my best guess is that ~$500 CDN is the best price you could get that card for anyways.

No, I wasn't talking to you, as I did my research, as always, and the 128MB version of the v9999GT is a 350MHz core, and a 700MHz memory, meaning it's the exact same speeds as the regular 6800 card, with all the pipes unlocked.

ya thats still a good deal for $353 NU with 16/6

Thats debatable. I mean, I'd rather fork out the extra 40 to get a Leadteck version thats got a big ass HSF on it, and is already up 150MHz on the DDR settings, and will probably do more, while it's not entirely guaranteed the 128MB "GT" will make it that far and beyond. Not to mention the extra 128MB does help out in certain games.

Hey P.I.M.P.

Think you could down load NVflash and give me a copy of your BIOS?

Directions:
http://66.197.212.86/index.php?opti...d=26&func=fileinfo&parent=folder&filecatid=53
download nvflash put on a bootable floppy

Then type: nvflash -b backup.rom
(the "-b" means backup... this will not flash your card and is perfectly safe)

I want to try playing with a 16pipe (GT) and 128 DDR1 BIOS to see the difference, etc...
So after testing 6800nu with the Rivatuner softmod, I can just flash your BIOS with customize clocks to maximize my card with out any extra software or coolbits, etc.

PM me if you can.

I Just made a post of how impressed I am with a Ti4200 (x800xt/pe in for fixn) It runs all new games very, very well. Nice litle card, it is a 128mb though...but same deal.

p.i.m.p. dont let anyone tell you,you made a bad choice, its a great card, and all that matters is that you are happy with your purchase.I went with Asus as well, but got the Asus V9999GE
with 256 megs of GDDR3.I payed 569 cdn $ for mine, and it runs very well at the speed I have it at,which is 390/1090.Running Vampire:Bloodlines I have to downclock the memory to 1060
or it will lock up after a few hours(need better case cooling, only have 2 80 mm antec case fans running, plus my Pressy 2.4A @ 3.42~Ghz,gives off a fair bit of heat as well :( )Running Doom III it looks exactly the same, but runs WAY better then my MSI 5900xtVTDH
(which is running at 445/810)on the 5900 I couldnt go above 10x7 with 8x AA+2x Quincunx,and at that it would average around 17 to 22 fps.Now,I can run Doom at 12x10 8x AA+ 8x ant-aliasing,and I average 40 to 45 fps.enjoy the card man !! :)
