I can't seem to go to ctrl +o or file->open file or folder to the file.
It happens in MS Office 2007 student and home plus VLC and some other programs.
going to my computer then directly to the file to open it is fine but not any other way.

Also checkdisk has come up twice within the last few weeks. deleted and fixed problems supposedly.. some corrupted files according to that screen.

Using Acer Aspire6920 Windows Home Pre 64 bit Service Pack 2

Is this common with Acer?

Open up an elevated command prompt (run as admin) and type in

sfc /scannow

Have your Vista disc handy in case it needs it to repair the os.

i don't have any disc for the laptop and forgot to make a disc. besides that anything else i could do?

EDIT: I do have an OEM disc for the HTPC can I use that for repairing the laptop?

there's some corrupt files in the log

i don't know the files that are corrupt

Also I can't figure out using the disc. Would it be a system restore?

Please help
thanks.
