I can play the cell stage fine, but once I get to the creature stage, my video goes black. It doesn't lock up the system, but the game crashes. I'm using 177.98.

already did... I thought it fixed it... but the same thing happened. I think it might just be the beta driver revisions I'm using.

Can you try with an ATI card in? I wonder if it's just an app crash due to virtual memory usage.

sorry... I'm an Nvidia guy right now, only got 280s, 9800GX2s and an 8800GTX OC here.
