i'm trying to install xp on my shuttle and i'm having some problems. i have no problems getting to the 1st part where you select what disk to install on and it copies all the needed files to the disk but then when it reboots it gets a no os found message. can anyone help me out?

Did you check the boot order to make sure its booting to the drive you installed windows on?

Yes. I only have the 1 drive and the cd-rw drive. The boot order in my bios is cd-rom and then hard drive.

What was the state of the hard drive before you installed XP? Since this is a new build, and you have nothing to loose, you could drive blanking the drive with it's utility.

First, You could boot from the XP CD and go into the recovery console, and type fixboot at the command prompt, once you log in.

SC385 - try this:

1.Go to the bios
2.ummm.. go to the standard cmos features or something like that.
3. there should be something like drive mode or acess mode
4.it should be by default on auto
5.change it to LBA I think
6.Save the settings

If that doesnt work, theres another setting on the drive mode that should be "large". That is, if the LBA setting doesnt work for you, try the large.
hope it helps
