Okay. I have a D-Link DI-704 (factory settings) and a Linksys BEFW11S4 (factory settings) . The DI-704 is connected to the cable modem. Then a crossover cable is being run into the WAN on the BEFW11S4. I get internet on all computers. But the DI-704 computers cannot see the BEFW11S4 computers. Help anyone?

Shares run over a common broadcast address for local lan. Broadcast packets are not routed on (non modified) soho routers. You will ether need to take the cable off the wan port on the BEFW11S4 and plug it into the switched ports, or use 3rd party software that doesn't rely on the broadcast address.

Yeah, why are you using the WAN port on the second router. Unless your running RIP or another routing protocol (some budget routers support RIP) then just use the switch (LAN side) of the second box.

Frankly it's suprising the internet works but if that does then editing your hosts or lmhosts might solve your problem while still using the WAN port. Machine on the second LAN would parse the lmhosts or hosts when looking for a NetBIOS name, then when it finds it's on another subnet, would hit the gateway IP (the second routers IP) and get forwarded on. Again, though, this assume a routing protocol is in place. If there is non, then just X-over to a LAN port and omit the WAN port completely.
