Problem reading all my blu-ray discs

So I recently purchased a LG Blu-ray Disc Rewriter model WH10LS30 from eBay (new condition). Whenever I put a Blu-ray disc in, I hear clicking noises separated by a second or two. After a while, PowerDVD 11 trial version comes up and the video starts up fine. When I get to the halfway point, I can an error about unable to read the disc, playback stops and PowerDVD closes.

Any idea what is going on? I tried several BR discs and they seem to stop somewhere around the midway point. Apparently skipping to the end will allow it to play.

I've tried cleaning the discs, they're fresh out of the box.
 
Why are you using the trial, mine came with the real Powerdvd ?
 
I purchased mine from eBay and it didn't come with the software...oops! Should have read it more carefully....
 
Try and rip the same blu-rays that freeze to your hard drive. If it rips all the way, the disc is ok, and i would imagine the drive is ok... and i would blame powerdvd.
 
Does this happen with all discs or just BD-50? If it is just with BD-50 it is a layer switching issue, it will be the drive, and not anything software-related.
