Power supply type for Silverstone LC11 cases?

Well, after 2 years of use the power supply in my Silverstone LC11 just died. It just won't power up anymore. I suspect it overheated and died as when I touched the case on the power supply side it felt pretty warm... well, hot in fact (and even letting it cool down for a few hours didn't help either).

I had read somewhere that these cases use either a 1U or 2U power supply, but the pics I've seen of these power supplies look bigger than what's included with the case. Can anyone tell me which type is correct- or does Silverstone use proprietary power supplies?

Thanks!
David

I would recommend emailing silverstone. Their support is top notch. I usually get a response within 1 day. You might even be able to buy one from them.

Product page says it's a TFX PSU. For example like this ?

Actually, yes- that looks a lot closer than the 1-2U power supplies. SUPPOSEDLY the one I have is a 350W PS - at least the sticker claims this.

But I'll check with Silverstone first and see if they can't help me out, or at least sell me a new PS without the proverbial arm-and-a-leg pricetag....

Got a 'indirect' reply from Silverstone. They actually passed on my inquiry to Sundial Micro who had said this was the recommended replacement:

(oh and btw it's 300 watt not 350 as I had said)

However I also ran across this over at Newegg:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151070

This one included a comment from a customer who mentioned that they used it for a direct replacement on their Silverstone case, too (no mention of the model number).

My next question: Who is the better manufacturer? I know about the FAQ about the power supplies here but (I believe - correct me if I'm wrong) they deal with ATX power supplies, and I need a TFX power supply.

Again- thanks for the feedback!

I was just about to post that Newegg link when I saw the thread title.

Seasonic hands down. That "Silverstone" PSU is actually a FSP. So Seasonic is definitely a better choice than the FSP.

I know when I got the case that the LC11s had a bad rep with the 'stock' 250 watt power supplies, but about the time I ordered my case Silverstone had started putting 300 watt PSs in the case (and at the time I verified that the case I had ordered was going to have a 300 in it). I had hoped that the 300s were better but I guess not. Guess I'll be ordering that Seasonic then....
