Power Supply Burnt

Hello,

A few days ago I was working on my computer and all of a sudden I smelt something burning. I wasn't sure what it was but 10 minutes later my computer died. I opened it up and the smell was coming from my power supply. So it burnt out apparently - I ordered a new power supply and installed it.

Now, the motherboard light will come on but none of the fans for the cpu or graphic cards will spin (comp won't boot).

Does anyone have any suggestions on what could have happened?

Thanks

(it would boot for a half a second before with the old powersupply, now it wont even turn on)

The damage may have already been done, and the burnt power supply may have taken out other parts, including (possibly) the motherboard, with it.

Could you tell us which parts you're using, including the PSU that you've used before (as well as the PSU you're using now)?

Hey, it's better than the alternative. ;)

Good to hear that everything worked out in the end.
