Potential RTX 3000 buyers...what monitors will you be driving?

Really, the problems with VRR on the LG OLEDs have more or less led me to write them off. I really want to see what Sony does with the Sony x900h.

I suspect that it's all going to be a mess for a few months to a year. You know how these companies are. They can't get anything right. HDMI 2.1 will probably be fucked on launch.

What problems are you speaking of? I have a 2070 Super, and GSYNC on my CX has been awesome.

LG CX 48" 4K / 120hz. Torn between value 3080 or splurge 3090. The monitor can certinaly use every extra FPS it can get

At the same time G-Sync mitigates that.

Currently a 1440p @165Hz g-sync monitor.
Once I upgrade my GPU, next year's upgrade will be the monitor, which I'm aiming for 4k @ 144Hz

I'm a little disappointed that the new GPU will not come with Display port 2.0
Though, there's no any upcoming monitor with DP2.0 either

LG G9 OLED here, Will see what AMD comes out with. the 3080 with 10GB has to little video memory for my liking, but the 3090 is too much of a price increase (100%) for too little additional performance increase. (20%)

Probably because the black floor on this display even with black crush is going to be better then 99% of the blacks on everything else out there. Received mine last week. I’ve been checking everyday for months to see when it would drop, and randomly checked Amazon last weekend. They had a few in stock so I couldn’t hit that checkout button fast enough, and within an hour they were out of stock again. Now amazon says no stock until Oct. this is Amanzon.ca though. 4K is crazy sharp, but almost too sharp. Miss my PG279Q 😥 My 2nd choice was the Viewsonic XG270QG but I couldn’t find it in stock anywhere.



I use to have the PG279Q, but did it only do 4:2:2? I never honestly checked but thought the monitor was pretty amazing. One of the best 144hz 1440P monitors that even today places like rtings still highly recommends. I know it didn’t have the newer displayport etc, and a 6bit panel but it looked ok, but I’m not a monitor expert.

I ordered mine from B&H Photo. I don't know when it will get here. If I like it I will probably order more to get a matching set. Right now I am running 3x LG 27UK650-W and an Asus VG27AQ. It bothers me so much that the Asus is 1440p.

It makes a lot of sense. The pixel response on OLED's is less than 1ms across much of the testing spectrum. With the slowest transitions 4ms or less. At any given refresh rate, its going to look a lot better and feel snappier than an IPS at the same refresh. And even IPS at higher refresh rates.

TN is an interesting case. If you want the absolutely best motion clarity. technically, a very good TN panel (one with the lowest response times) can maintain more clarity under motion, at 240hz refresh. Than a 120hz refresh OLED display.

However, every single other aspect of the image and panel quality are DRAMATICALLY worse. So even though a very specific motion blur test will show that TN retaining more clarity: The OLED is going to look and "feel" better. A skilled gamer in a very fast game my be able to post better average scores, on a 240hz tn panel. But it would be an interesting comparison. I would posit that the immaculate contrast from the OLED would help with scores, as well. Nearlly all monitor reviews on RTings mention that they have trouble showing darker and lower contrast colors accurately. Even after calibration.

I will wait for others to use it for a few months to see realistic real world performance at 4K 60Hz. Only and only until then would I even entertain getting the 3080 to drive my LG 43" 4K moniyor. Hype is nothing like real world use.

This is my first 4K monitor, so it’s taking some getting use to. 4K almost seems so sharp it’s a tad blurry, I’ve been playing wildlands and I literally can’t see pixels. Yeah I read more after that guy's post and it sounds like it's more like the CRTs of old. I also looked up those contrast problems and they don't seem to have an idea how to fix it so there are still a few kinks to work out apparently. Plus I don't want a 50"+ monitor, I want something around 30 for my desk.

Acer 27” XF270HUA here. 1440p 144hz IPS Freesync panel. Don’t plan on going 4K anytime soon. I’d want around a 32” 120hz min on a 4k monitor and definitely don’t want another TN panel. Since I just bought 2 of these last year I’ll stay where I’m at for awhile.

Occasionally I connect to my 75” Sony 900F TV but not often enough. It can do 1440p@120hz never tried above that though. Will probably never grab an OLED due to paranoia. Wouldn’t work out in my household.

Probably gonna grab a 3070 but will wait and see how it compares to the 3080.

3080 for me I believe... 3090 value proposition seems low given price vs. advantages, and the two functional differences (nvlink and 24Gb) are unlikely to be used by me. I will stick with my Samsung 40” 4K/60Hz display and secondary ASUS 27” 1440p/175Hz Monitor until I can get a 40” 4K/120Hz OLED since 40” is perfect for me and I don’t want to compromise on something larger or smaller than my ideal for the next display.

Haha yes it’s wall mounted but so are the 40inch 4k on my sons desk and my old 40inch vizio was to. Takes up a lot less desk space and puts you at a better viewing angle. Like have it mounted right at the edge of the desk. Now I just need to build a stand for my computer. So I can put my Speakers back on my desk. I hate using tv speakers.

I bought the LG 38GL950G-B 38 Inch UltraGear Nano IPS 1ms Curved Gaming Monitor with 144HZ Refresh Rate and NVIDIA G-SYNC, Black in anticipation of getting a 3080 (hopefully Ti) from EVGA with an AIO. The monitor is a remarkable upgrade from what I had been using, whilst being ridiculously over priced.. but hey.. gaming! The monitor seems a bit buggy to me, but I'm new with it so maybe some user error going on. I debated going 4k, but I like having way more frames than are really necessary, and I'm addicted to 21:9.
