Very nice job g33zy...nice to know there's someone around here who can give me a run for my money. ;) :D

Actually it's good to see a few more useful contenders on the last couple of pages. There was a while there where I couldn't bare to look at this thread ;) jks.

I'll have some very early shots soon...just got everything installed in the PC-V1000 last night...decided that I couldn't wait until the cuts were done to install everything so the wiring could be a lot better, but I'll tear it down in a month or two to cut it up and get it painted.

You do for sure man...but I meant in terms of [H] Talent. :D

Just kidding everyone...things are looking awsome.

I got my new V1000 setup last night, I haven't done any mods to the case so wiring still has a long ways to go...but this ain't too bad for basically out of the box wiring with NO extra time spent on routing cables:

Here's the link to the fans on my Coolermaster Hyper 6+
http://www.scythe-usa.com/product/acc/011/sy1025sl12x_detail.html

Got mine from Newegg...

Quantity = 2
Fans = $9.98 ($4.99 each) (2000 RPM Version)
Tax (CA) = $0.72
Shipping = $6.29
Total = $16.99

Quantity = 1
Fan = $4.99 (2000 RPM Version)
Tax (CA) = $0.36
Shipping = $4.99
Total = $10.34

A pretty good shipping discount of 3.69 if you order 2. Always good to have a spare right? :)
ahh i thought they were the scythes, say, how big of a difference is there in sound and temperature with the new fans? i know the stock hyper 6+ fan is pretty noisy

ahh i thought they were the scythes, say, how big of a difference is there in sound and temperature with the new fans? i know the stock hyper 6+ fan is pretty noisy

Sound:
With one fan there's a significant difference in sound, with the scythe being the quieter of the two. With both Scythes..the sound is at par with the stock CM fan.

Temperature:
At idle to moderate CPU usage, one scythe compared to the stock CM fan produce about the same performance, considering both operate at around 1900-2000 RPM. At loads, the CM fan definitely performs better with it's ability to reach 3600 RPM, whereas the scythe only reaches 2200 RPM.
With two scythe's as opposed to one CM fan, both scythes operating at ~2000 RPM perform about the same as one CM fan at ~3500 RPM. And those of us who own the Hyper 6+ know that, at those speeds, cops are likely to come knocking at your door because the neighbors are complaining about the noise. (Okay, so i exaggerated a little :) )

For performance, It would be ideal to have two CM fans. But who here has actually seen a Coolermaster 100mm replacement fan? So the next best thing would probably be two Scythes. Of course you could have one CM fan and one Scythe, but I assume at high speeds, the Scythe wouldn't be able to keep up with the CM fan, and probably just end up getting in the way of the airflow. I haven't tested this particular setup, but it seems logical. Feel free to prove otherwise.

Cornelious. Do the V1000's come with that shiny of a bottom plate for the motherboard compartment or did you use some sort of mirrored perspex or something.

^^ love the duct tape dude!

Seriously, with the given situation you did a very nice job. You went the "show you wires off" route and I can't hate on that. There will always be the choice of cutting up the case and running cables hidden everywhere or leaving the cables in sight and arranging them neatly. Nice job.

*my personal choice wires hidden but to each thier own :D

I will...but you have to understand that I had been using an Antec SLK1650B for over a year and was ready to throw it out the front door...I couldn't resist setting everything up. I don't know exactly when I'll have time to tear it down and fix up the wiring and get the case painted, but hopefully it won't be put off too long.

Don't worry, I ain't gonna settle for THIS pitiful wiring job. :D

I did nothing too it...there have been more then one revision of the V1000 though, the early ones still used very restrictive "grills" in the case for the 120mm fans and mine's completely open...I'm pretty sure that plate is stock, got it in a trade for my X850XT mastercard.

It'll be much nicer later though, I'll be getting a high-gloss paint job done to the entire interior/exterior of the case at an autobody shop once the cuts are done. :cool:

lol.....:) actually ther are lots of fans in there as well. 3 x 120mm fans 1 x 80mm and the mobo has 4 little fans built in.

Like I said in my post, it was just during testing.....its all clean now, will post a pic tonight!:p

Tonight I'm going to try to wire this bad boy up. I know that the 4 pin power connector will go underneath the motherboard. Will the 24 pin connector fit under the motherboard? I will also disconnect the firewire as I don't really use it. I will try to zip tie everything else up.

Any comments or suggestions please let me know.

the atx will not fit under the board. with that case i suggest you make a shoud or false floor to tame that mess infront of the power supply.

When you post pics, try to include one with the window on as well so that we can really see what you're working with. Personally I don't care how it looks with the window off, so I've done all sorts of stuff directly outside the perimeter of the window.

Heres mine. It's a modded compaq case, I reversed the hard drives, and tightened up the IDE cables. Ignore the CCl cables and the power switch, there just temporary.

You've done a very good job seen as that case doesnt look the easiest for cable management...
Try making the ide cable fold a little neater and tucking some of the cables under the motherboard.
Also, you might want to give it a bit of a clean.
Takes a while, i know :eek: ... but its worth it in the end. :D

really nice job... I think it looks great... nice, clean, good parts.

nice system!

~NortH~

Thanks for the kind words. I need to start working on my overclock next!

Nice job jgreen. I bet that sata optical drive really helps with wire mangement.

It did make things a lot easier. I need to look at doing something different with the power cable to the hard drive though.
