y aits pretty neat, I downloaded it a few hours ago and installed it, did you install the additional software the windows roll up and the others, is there ny way I can install them after I choose not too during the original install?

Whats that little grey area near the task trey? is it supposed to do anything? can I set it to anything?

I use FlyakiteOSX as well, I just wish I can drag n' drop to a recycle bin on the desktop still somewhat. I'll get used to it. =0)

He he, that's a REAL OS X screenshot....finally stopped pretending and got the real thing! :D Now I am overly joyed! :)
 
Can anyone suggesta good window reskin prog that doesn't cost money or take up resources? the only one i managed to get hold of when i tried a while ago made my machine run like a pig and crash loads.

Also, can anyone who's posting screenies of their loevely reskinned/shelled desktops name the theme too? I've seen a few i like so far but can't name them to get them myself :D

You could patch your uxtheme.dll and use Windows Visual Styles with the built in windows themeing engine.

My two main sources for VS's are DiviantArt and the NeoWin forums.

You can download a "hacked" uxtheme.dll file that will allow you to add Uncertified MSStyles to your dektop. MsStyles being things such as Classic, and Windows XP theme (defualts). Its not "hacked" as in "this contains spyware/illegal" Its hacked in that they changed a few hex codes that will allow uncertified ms visual styles to run.

Google it. You might want to google uxtheme.dll for the build of your OS. You can find that out in Safemode.

Anywho, after you get that just hit up Deviant Art -- Skins and Themes -- Windows Utilities -- Visual Styles

Quick note, I linked to a patcher in my previous post, it should be able to patch any uxtheme.dll :D

I've been changing my desktop way too much.... Using-- VS (hacked uxtheme.dll): GelXp 2.2; Elements Icons Suite (w/ IconPackager) for system icons; Avedesk--sysstats Horizontal calendar; Recycle bin w/ Minimum bin icon; My Computer icon (can't remember where I got this); Folder icons called "Magnite" can be found on aqua-soft.org; Konfabulator--widescape weather & a netstats beta widget; Object Dock Plus w/ Aero Frost Tab background; Y'z Toolbar w/ Longhorn Dark Alternative theme (for explorer bar); Wallpaper: I have no idea where I got the original, but I have modded it slightly--I flipped the picture so it's on the left & I applied grayscale to the picture which used to be colored. Whew!! I think that's it...

Thanks for the link, unknown - i've got lots of styles/shells i've downloaded already off devart and customize.org, but nothing to run them on, lol...

I just reread my post and realized I was a little vague as to how to get the themes working, here are some more detailed instructions :D

Go to the fallowing link, download the patcher, run the patch
(sounds like you already have, but just making sure):

Now, unzip the themes and place the resulting folders containing the msstyles into the fallowing folder:
"C:\WINDOWS\Recources\Themes\"

Note that you can only use msstyles (AKA Visual Styles) other formats like Windows Blinds images will not work!

Open display properties and pick a theme:

heh, i have longhorn ;) :D

youd have to get windowsblinds and download a longhorn theme. theres no dedicated program like FlyaKite. thats because nobody wants to emulate windows... only mac :p

Actually, there are a few! Go to http://www.winmatrix.com and look for it...it's NOT hard too find at all.....no link from me because II'm tooo lazy too go look! They transform XP to the look/feel of Vista, except none can emulate the tranparent windows, of course, installes the theme, icons, tooolbars, ettc etc etc... :)

Yep; they're called "BricoPacks." Some are better than others (uninstall problems w/ a few; just Google & you'll find them). WindowBlinds 5 will support alpha-blending (Vista-like transparencies) & will be out supposedly next month (wincustomize.com). I have a license for WB 4.x, but I uninstalled it & hacked my uxtheme.dll so I can use non-WB visual styles. But, WB 5 may make me go back; depends on whether VS creators statrt releasing more & more WB-only VS's.

Can neone help me find a good site where I could find xp themes/skins?? I thot the neowin one comes with some but nada heh thx for the linkage tho..

I posted a desktop w/ that same wallpaper last month. Google for "Georghetti Mafia" & use "deviantart" as a serach term as well.....

I remember seeing it...well, here's mine. I themed OS X...yup, it's OS X themed. I got bored of the normal Aqua style, so, here it is!
