It really does! Blends in nicely with the overall look.

I just got a pair of Koss KSC-35 in a few days ago, and they are simply amazing for the price!

I have the same switch on my M3 so........ :p

Agreed
They are killer little phones for the price.

You know what the sad part is for me?
I use my KSC-35s and HD201s more then I use any of my other phones.

Wow, now that is a bold statement! :p Is most of your listening done outside?

You need to hear a Moon Audio recabled KS-35 out of a Dynahi.. Extreme overkill, but sounds amazing :p

Hey Mr. X do those circuit boards come with all the components preinstalled or did you do that yourself too. Damn good job if you did!

Still amazes me how you figured ALL that out!

Nope, but Tangent does have a pretty decent parts list so it's not really that hard as you long you don't do something silly like crosswire the output on the amp..... like I did on the last one I shipped. :(

Well, here's what a couple of months at Head-fi will do for ya:

Haha, don't you just hate it when that happens? And nice looking amp. Pimeta w/ a Tread?

Yep, It's a Pimenta/Tread with stacked buffers on L/R and AD843+AD823. I'm quite pleased with the sound. :D

darkisz: What Wall Wart did you use with your Pimeta? ;)

I am also wondering about the ATH-W1000's.... did you buy them new or used?

Currently have a Philips SBC HP-830, and it's time it got replaced. The low is almost non-existant, which surprises me from Philips, which usually comes with too much low. That's the main reason I'm looking for new cans.

What I'm looking for:
Something with a good bass and clear highs, mids are important but not as important as the low and high. I listen to anything from downtempo to hardstyle, but mainly techtrance and hardtrance. I won't be using it on the road, so I don't care if it's open or closed, whichever sounds better will be my pick. Will watch a movie with it from time to time, but not alot.

What my main source is:
A Reloop RP-4000 turntable, preamped with a TCC TC-750, and a JVC RX-5052 as receiver. I use Bose 305's (so sue me...*grin*) as speakers. I'll also use it for my laptop, but not alot. For on the road use I have a Creative Zen Touch and a pair of EX-71's. A headphone amp is considered, but not for some time, not till a month or 6 after I get the headphones.

Budget:
Let's say sub $100, but I am willing to stretch a bit if the extra is worth it. Somebody adviced me to go for a Senn HD-201 with a cheap amp, but while I read lots of good about the 201, the low price still scares me. (I haven't heard it -- yet)

Any advice? Thanks!

I use a set of sony wireless IR headphone..
They dont have the best quality of sound, but I hate wires.

Hi MrX-

I ended up using the 24V AC/DC 400ma WW. :D

I picked up the W1000's used on e-bay. I really like the sound over the A500's I used to have.

btw, I am now the owner of an 0404 that you had your hands on. Just wanted to say, very nice work!

I like the AKG 240s, I bought them as backup cans for listening to music in bed at night, they have good strong bass, and are pretty clear, around $75-100 shipped on Ebay.

I also have the Senn 457 which have a huge boomy low end but aren't as refined as the AKGs.

My headphone setup.
Nothing really too spectacular.

My equipment is:

- Source is: Emu 0404 (stock) with Headphile breakout cable
- Amp: Gilmore Lite + Gilmore Lite Dedicated Power Supply
- Headphones (music): Sennheiser 595 and 580
- Headphones (games): Sennheiser PC-160 (connected to Audigy 2 ZS)

Pic 2: (Evidently a Sennheiser fan)

I'll look into those AKG's, but as far as I know none of the stores around here have them for demo-ing. I'll also be looking into the HD-595, as they are on sale for a pretty low price atm, so that might be hard to miss out on.

Pimeta #78
Tampon player (Ipod shuffle)
PX200s.

The Pimeta has a USB port so it can be used to recharge the Shuffle when needed. :)

Ooooh! Now I miss my shuffle/px200's!! Hey do you need a case for that shuffle? I ordered one from powersupport and have no use for it.

Very nice setup! Best so far in this thread! :)

I'll be posting my RS-1s when I get them within the next two weeks :)

Yeah.. I don't know why I don't post much on [H], I lurk around a lot. Head-Fi was down, so I thought, might as well check out the audio forums :p.

My Sony Eggo MDR-D77s (fairly rare...)

eggo.jpg

I'll try and post my amp and HF-1 sometime when I can be bothered.

akwok, niiiiiiiice!

Tawnos, nice mints. I want to make one or 2. Do they make things sound better, or just amp the volume?

I wonder how many Head-Fiers check out [H], seems to be quite an overlap.

An AKG K701 or RS-1 will be joining in next week or so, want to try them out and see how they are (I haven't tried a Grado yet!).. the K701 is self explainatory :).

you preorder your 701's yet?

im #2 in line over at headroom IIRC i cant wait, preordered the day they announced it with overnight shipping... im drooling with excitement... i dont think they will dethrone my K1000's but they are at least a bit more portable perhaps? hehe...

Haha, I definitly don't hope I'll move at the pace you are moving at. However, I did join just a week ago or so, and allready bought a pair of HD-595's.
:D

the german review said that the 701 actually improved on the 1000s in some areas!

I will prob pick up some 701s in the future.

biohazard: dude, you seriously need to learn about white balance :)

Update on my previous picture - Grado HF-1s, Sony Eggo D77s and Etymotic ER4, all in one picture! Yay head porn. :) Sorry if you have trouble accessing the picture, my IP address just changed so DNS update has to propagate...

how do you like the eggos?

Fear the unimpressive collection of unimpressive cans! :)

L to R:
HD-497 for LANs (they're tough), HD-280 Pro for loud places (mad isolation), Grado SR-60 for bedroom (rock music FTW), and Koss KSC-75 for movement (around campus, etc.).

I really like all of them.

very nice :p not the most expensive but each can is very good for waht they are intended :p

eric: I like the Eggos. They're great portables, nice smooth sound, very comfortable, very portable, don't leak. If you mean the 77s in particular, they're very slightly better than the 66s, but not worth paying the eBay prices for. It takes very careful listening to distinguish them from the 66s, the difference isn't drastic at all. I was lucky enough to get mine for $100, going on sound quality alone the eBay prices for the 77s are not at all justified. Only pay the $200+ prices if you care about rarity value. You can get much better sounding portables for that kind of money (like the er4s, for a start).
