Well, thats quite an act to follow. I just took my new SJ5 off the workbench, and I totally fubared the cable. They would be real pretty if I actually cut the proper length of sleeving.

Lol, it happens. That cable is THICK! If you ever recable it with a thinner cable, make sure you cut the right length. ;)

Heh, it's acutally not the cable. Thats mini-starquad :p. It's the sleaving that makes it so thick.

But, what I am going to do is order a new mini jack, as I hate these nuetrik ones anyways. I am going to get one of the fat ones so that I can get the sleeving inside the jack instead of using heatshrink. When I do that, I am going to shorten the cable, and then my sleeving will be ok.

Yea, I was wondering why you wouldn't just desolder and shorten the cable and resolder to fit the sleeving. But if you're waiting for a new connector, it makes total sense. :)

So, I took some of my own pics today... (They are quite big)

I've got to say, this amp seems to really bring out the good and the bad in my MS-2. They seem even more revealing on a bad recording, but freaking fantastic on a good recording. Damn Michael do the depths, I hate the song, but Billie Jean sounds amazing. Shortly, she will be making a journey to Mister X for a little TLC, I can't wait to hear it :).

Oh, and I think it's officially time to kiss the Headfive goodbye. :D

With the flat pads or?
I had almost forgot to ask if you use those or not. :p

Bowls.... I had mixed feelings about the flats. They added some nice bass, but seemed to muddy up the sound a bit.

But, I'd say its a good time for a second run with them :)

The reason I bought two is because at the price I got the second one they would have sold in a matter of minutes.

Think usual Headfi K1000 pricing then divide by 3 (or 4 now that it's got way out of hand)

What did you pay, like $300-$400 them? Lucky bastard. :D

:D :D :D

I was told by several people that the HD580 was a bad match for the Headfive... and I thought it was sort of bizzare, because I thought they sounded great out of it. Well, I am giving them their first go on the Millet... I see what they mean. They sound a lot better, more so of an improvement than the MS-2 had.

Methinks this is the start of a beautiful relationship. <3 tubies.

Would it make them better if a bunch of dudes online label them as "audiophile"? :D They have a very good reputation (didn't hear them myself) and seem to be soundcard-friendly--no amplifier required. In the end, only you can decide whether you like the sound or not.

Not to mention that real audiophile headphones are out of production and over $1000, I mean cmon, everybody knows that

what does everyone here think of the hd 595s audiophile or not?

the HD595's were my first pair of 'audiophile' cans. They are often considered to be an entry level audiophile can because they are relatively cheap and do not need an amp, both of which were reasons why I originally purchased them.

When compared to the Senn HD580/600/650's the 555/595's have angled drivers that give them a more forward and aggressive sound.

Finally got a few more tubes to play around with. Right now I'm rocking out with the WE396A in my Paradisea+ DAC.

This thing is sweet.

YAY, new headphones.

I'd post my cmoy but it's somewhere in the closet right now (can't case it up, no drill).

hehe getting turned on just looking at em. :D

have you heard the DT770s unmodded? I want to know if it's worth recabling mine.

Yes I have heard them stock. They suck stock sorry. I don't even like them closed with Larry's modifications but Open = WOW

They need more than just recabling. I would suggest buying an 880 or 990 instead of just recabling a 770..

If you want THE bitchin gaming can send them to Larry for Darthification. He won't do Open unless he feels like it and puts one up on the FS page.
