LOL! What a moron, good laugh. FYI that IS the PCIe Bus. It doesn't just work if you cut it to fit, it has to have circuitry and a BIOS that's compatible with PCI-E 1/4x for that, and even then it wasn't made to work like that.

Where do you live that produces such heat? Did you put the thing in a sealed box?

Bear with me...I lost my camera and all I had was a shitty Nikon point and click with no image stabilization.

It would benefit from being able to breathe, and possibly a reapplication of thermal material on the CPU.

haha yeah, I know, it won't overclock though, It should run fine, it now is in the basement and 10C cooler, though still very hot it'll last long enough...

No, im using it as an AP.

I probably should try DD-WRT, as using an E6600 for this is.. overkill

New router..

E6600 @ 1.3GHz
2GB ram
P5W DHD
250GB Seagate drive
HX520W

Jeez, your cpu, motherboard, and powersupply, are much better than my main computer!
I vote not ghetto! :p

Fan wedged into hard drive bungees (had one fail)
Laptop DVD burner sitting on top of everything (desktop one failed right after hdd)
Side/front off & wires hanging out due to hotswapping multiple drives.
Soldering iron for extra foodstamps (gotta feed the cats living in the basement)

Not sure if it's ghetto, but I did this mod to my brand new Thermalright so my Reaper ram would fit:

After trying scissors, it was epic fail, so out came the hacksaw lol

How about this?

I couldn't get the big leaf collector blower off of my bigger Briggs & Stratton engine so I could use the engine for my go-kart, instead I just borrowed some parts from the bigger engine and made it all work with the smaller engine on the go-kart. I bored out the intake manifold, and mated a bigger carburetor to it. Made a ghetto-stand for the new gas tank and a few other ghetto arrangements that are working pretty well.

That's how most of these things are designed :).

Mine had a transaxle from a lawn mower, always in 3rd, except when I helped pull down a tree. [pulling the parts so they didn't fall on a house when cut] The reason lawn mowers are slow is the huge pulley on the transaxle input, you just gotta put the same size on the motor and the back... That gocart got cut up by my brother into a barstool dealie...

Cool Emission. My dad made me a home made one too and honestly it looked almost the exact same as yours. Just a bit cleaner :p

Our router died and I needed a little bit of a antenna boost to pick up my neighbor's signal. And this surprisingly worked.

I hear a stainless steel mixing bowl also works the same way, I need to try that with my neighbors so they will STFU

Mine isn't really home-made, it's just 20 years old :p.

I ended up putting the original carb/tank back, runs like it should again.

Edit: djbsccr, THIS is how it's done, Woktenna style :)

15" Wok lid - $10
53" Tripod - $12.50
Piece of wood - Fr33.
Linksys USB Wi-fi B/G stick - Fr33.

The tripod to dish mount is made of an old PCI blank bracket with 2 holes drilled into it, and it's reversible. I have a 12ft tripod that I can mount it to if I reverse the bracket. This new tripod can become 3x as tall as the above picture because it has extending feet (didn't take a picture of that), and it can be precisely adjusted like 2938492 ways. Height, pitch, direction, rotation.........you name it, it's getting pointed that way.

I think this one-ups djbsccr's solution a tiiiiiiiny bit ;).

The surface has to be smooth and relatively parabolic in nature for it to be an effective reflecting dish, not to mention the wi-fi unit has to be at the focal point.

Yeah not all the ghetto. You could improve by having used ramen noodle cups lying around with crushed natty light beer cans so that we know you cantenna in style :)

I still have a couple packets of Ramen hidden somewhere in this room but I have yet to find them....

Naw, ghetto doesn't mean crappy, using a wok as a sort of a "waveguide" thing is ghetto, it's all about function...

Ghetto is defined as function over form :), working well regardless of looks. It's just that ghetto is usually associated with things that look crappy and low-cost.........and yet sometimes professional looking but still low cost :).

i'm sure with that thing you can get wifi at the moon

How do you know I get my interwebs from the moon? ;)

well mine wins because it cost me $0.00 to make and it still boost my signal enough
