completly offtopic and maybe wrong, but without knowing what motherboard that is I would say that you are not running dual channel. I think you need to move that second memory stick into the light blue slot.

nice HD setup by the way.

Other than for serving usage...wtf are u guys thinking using 10 hd's :)

That's fricking hilarious. I'm starting at these pics of computers with 6 hd's, 4 full of p0rn, movies, games, apps...

Leechers!!!!!

cable.management.01.jpg

So far, this system wins in neatness. The only thing the dude who made this should work on would be cable management of the other components in his case.

hdds, the cables are kinda messy looking in this pic but they dont look that bad IRL...

that 2500+ sould be getting a higher OC on water?
it should but it dosent.. theres something wierd with this board, that and room temps are always skyhigh its 3am here now and its 86°f makeing the cpu die read 116°, the oc im running now is multi only. This is a rev a board, the ram will do 400 but the cpu wont much over 380 and it craps out as this cpu is a first gen barton as well, 333 fsb with 512 cache... the box the borad came in say it supports 333fsb procs and 400 mhz ram... so yeah.. it craps out... so basicly i run 12.5x166 (2075~) most of the time and only run the 11x190 while at a lan (as where we lan has A/C ) other wise i basicly water cool for stability reasons...

it dose help the vid card quite abit... im not shure what stock speed is on the ram but atitool reports it as 500mhz and i've had it up to 700 mhz befor i chickened out, as i cant seem to find any docs that say what stock speed is, however, the core is rock stable all the way up to 630mhz (stock is 500mhz) but... 633 it starts acting wierd and 635 it locks with lots of graphics anomolys... it is a vivo, so i might try the xtpe flash, but im to chicken at this point as i just got the card... ill wait till i *need it*

up grade is not to far down the road, so im not worried about how fast this pc is as far as the proc is concerned, and this one will become a file server, as long as my data stays intact (i know somes gonna ask why i run a raid 0 stripe.... well.. to be honest, i've never had any trouble with raid 0 the 2 40's have survived 4 motherboard upgrades over 5 years (there on a seperate controller... ) i did have one fail on me right off the bat but i managed to get my data copyed with a quick mirror, and swap out...) i want dual core and 64bit support... this one is already getting long in the tooth as it is..

Sprocket sports 4x36GB Raptors in RAID0 and one SATASeagate 120GB.

All cooled like so...

This was just an experiment...I don't really need a set up like this (and have changed it since these pics), but it was fun to build.

I would like to know what would the power requirements be for so many harddrives in one system I know just two or three drives won't draw much but 10 or more would tax a power supply.

Thore.

I suggest mounting that pump. Not only would it make your case look cleaner, but I do believe that it would be a little easier on the magnetic impeller on the inside =).

it is mounted, you just cant see the screws or plate thats holding it, yeah.. its on an angle because any other angle it will rattle the cd-roms that are right behind it (something wierd with the harmanics of this case and that position.. the cd-roms are right over the rad i think vibrations travle throught the water, and when the position is any thing else, it rattels... . ) , as it is it makes no noise at all... i had it mounted to the bottom orriginally , but what you cant see in the pic is the 1/4" piece of plexy that is mounted to the bottom the screws that held it hit the plexy , and drilling holes in it to except the screws ruins the effect... the pump dosnt seem to care that its mounted that way.. as it has sat there for 3 years...

2 psu's because i have killed my fair share of psu's due to overloading them. that case is a Lain Li PC-76. the temps are normal. hd's don't get hot, not even warm to the touch. the case has 4 80mm fans just for the hd's.

Nope, they are placed correctly for Dual channel.

so this isn't exactally a ton of hdd, but it's small enough for me to haul around to Lans and such.
the case is custom and ghetto, it took like 2 days to make, it works but not very good, i just needed a little case to hold hdd and bring along with my laptop, i9300 (love it)
it's just mobo, hdd's and psu

i'm hoping to upgrade to 4 x 250gb sata raid 0 in the future
mini_ITX m1200 i think
1 x maxtor 40gb
3 x maxtor 80gb
1 x wd 160gb sata

You sir are not using your computer to its potential :)

Well put, and I'll post up the Compaq Hotswap SCSI machine I'm making at school. I think it will have 5 18gig SCSI HDD's. It's going to be a test server for the advanced kids, like myself, to dick around with.

Downloading large amounts of video and other data.

Video and games come to mind. I think my UT2004 directory of maps and modifications was over 10GB at one point (I love large maps loaded with mods). If you game alot it doesn't take much to exceed your pultry 40GB drive. Even if you don't rip your DVDs and don't have a TV tuner, it's still easy to accrue 100's of GB of video. Sites like this will help fill up that 40GB of yours ;) : http://www.archive.org/details/movies http://www.filefarmer.com/techshows/

From the [H] Terabyte Club thread:

http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=943660

Box for file leeching:

6x 250gigs (4 in a jbod array)
1x 200gigs
1x 160gigs
generic IDE controller card

Gaming rig (with a 7800GTX!):
1x 300gig
4x 300gig raid 0 1.08TB for pr0n (and its still not enough)
Promis SX4000Lite w/256MB pc133 ram

That is the before picture...
After picture to come when I get a Seasonic S12 600W psu to power all the drives in my fileserver (my current 500W is not enough).

Nice free space on the TBHDD, :D

nothing spectatular, but still pretty cool I think. Ill post my home box, with 2 HDDs (1x74 giger and 3x200gb) when i get the pics
