My chair broke and I need a new one. I've seen the edges of what looked like some nice chairs in older Workstation threads, but rather than bump those, I thought I'd see what people have currently.

I could have sworn I saw one of these threads before, but I cannot find it.

True Innovations Model:8090 SKU:452375

I got this one from Costco a few years back. It has held up a lot better than anything that I had ever purchased in the past from Staples or Office Max. They do not show this chair online, I believe it is in-store only. I still see them even today, but not at every Costco. YMMV.

I picked it up for around $200-250.

$100 office chairs suck, unless you find one on a blow out sale. I scored such a chair some time ago, but the quality of my 8090 is superior in every way.

Here is a crappy pic of the chair.

HÅG H04 4650

Norwegian high end ergonomic office chair. Have had it for 10 years now. Perfection, never got a tired or sore back using this chair. Build quality is world class. So it´s kind of pricey.

I don´t have the neck support seen in the last image, but that´s the color. The arm rests swivel behind, when needed.

A friend of mine has an Aeron chair that he got at the local Habitat store for IIRC like $100. WTF it was doing at a Habitat store I'll never know... but he claims it's the best $100 he ever spent.

The fellow is a shrink by the way; he loves his job (nearly to workoholism) so he spends... well, I would say more than 12hrs/day in that chair. Gotta be comfy if he can do that and still drive home.

I've sat in the Aeron knock off chairs at Office Max/Depot/Staples and never really seem what all the rage was about :/

I have this one. I read about it here on Hardforum.

We have a bunch of leap-chairs here at work. I don't like them at all. Ha ha. I talked them into getting me a Think, though! http://store.steelcase.com/products/think-in-color-3d-knit-back/

Black, with fully adjustable everything, lumber support, and a headrest. I think it was around $1,000. :D I love my Think chair! if I had the moolah, i'd buy one for home. Ssooooooo comfy!

These look great. Thanks for the link. Good to have if I ever migrate to the states ;)

How do you like the build quality?

I sit in it everyday for 8-9 hrs; 40hrs/week. Nothing has snapped, or broke off in the year and a half i've had it. I'm not a light man, and I plop down, and the seat has a comforting bounce to it; the weight suppressors do their job well. The recline mechanisms have some play in them, but it's a comforting play; not a discerning one. This chair is going to last for many years.

I got it for free. Never would have spent the dough to get it on my own, but i LOVE it!

THIS^ QFT!

I second the WTF, but to the price. I would have bought one for everyone I know at that price. I paid $400 for mine used from an office furniture sell-out place. It was basically like-new though. I think they retail for $800+. Anyway, if this one broke (which I'd be stunned if it happened), I'd gladly repay the $400 in a heartbeat. This is the best chair I've ever owned, worth every single penny. There aren't enough good words for this chair.

My actual office chair at work, though, is the biggest pile... I don't know what it is, but it's a knock-off, cheapo mesh one. I'll post the make / model tomorrow when I'm in the office. Maybe my view is tainted because I have such a nice one at home, but seriously, this one sucks balls. It's unbelievable the difference between the two.

My friend got his Aeron like 5+ years ago ;) that may have something to do with it...

Lol my back snapped off on mine. Screwed it back on with nut and bolt. So need a new chair.

HM Aeron here too. I've got really back problems (rod + 6 screws), and this chair feels great.

Ok guys, as promised, here's what you should NOT buy. It's a Technion Visio chair.

The cushion broke down in 2 months so now it feels like I'm sitting on a wood board all day long, which doesn't help my back any. The back is curved way too much, so it's only supporting a portion of it. On one of my coworker's chairs, the tilt retention mechanism doesn't work, so it will occasionally sprang forward and startle everyone. If you want to lean back, you push on the arm rests, but the arms will then ratchet all the way to the forward position, which makes a really obnoxious noise that freaks out the whole office. It's rickety. The ones with lumbar support feel like someone is jabbing a 2x4 into your lower back. I can't wait to get out of this thing by the end of the day.

I'd do anything for another Aeron at work :(.

Thinking about getting this for my next chair, my cat has destroyed the leather on the current chair and with this type of chair the cat won't be able to jump on the headrest lol

My work actually use these chairs. Well we use to they got replaced by some newer mesh ones. I ended up switching mine back to the old one, because it was much more comfortable. I sit in this one about 4-6hrs a day sometimes more and I have no complaints. It tilts leans and the arm rests are adjustable.

To be honest you can customize this so many ways which is why i love it.

EZ Bonded Leather Executive Chair

Much better than the OfficeMax brand of chairs. Those usually feel like sitting on plywood after a few months. I've had this EZ one for over a year and still feels comfortable. It was easy to assemble too (another thing I hate about OfficeMax brand).

I went with the basic configuration of the Herman Miller Sayl. It's reasonably comfortable, but I'm average build (5'9" 180) and I doubt it would work well for someone much bigger.

The chair looks good, is comfortable for non-work, and I really like the suspension back. It's also durable as hell. I moved last fall, and about had a heart attack when the chair slow rolled out the back of the moving truck. Landed, bounced three times out into the street. Not a mark, no scuffed plastic, no torn fabric.

The chair is AMAZING, very nice leather and very comfortable padding on the seat. Best part is: it has a FOOTREST.

Cost me $1600 which is a very, very good price for this chair. I got it through a friend who orders direct from manufacturers. If anyone interested, check out his site and shoot him an email: http://uexonline.com/

damn i want that chair.... if only i had that much money to drop on a chair =[

Lol I wish, I think the brand was "Loft" something or "Studio" something. My cat already put her claws in it, about 2 days after I got it  If it were real I'd have shot her haha.
