I wish everyone would post the production week of their CPU's.

I have this sneaky suspicion that the production week (and the stepping - of course) are the two most important predictors of success in unlocking.

The production week of my CPU was 1041, or in other words week 41 of 2010, or some time in early October 2010

If you bought your CPU a long time ago, or if it sat for a long time on the retailers shelves, then even if its the same model number and stepping, the success rate will likely be lower, because of continuous improvement activity at the foundry causing yields to become better over time.

I've noticed (of recent) that according to the Newegg reviews the best chance for a successful dual Phenom II X2 to unlock to a quad is to get the top dual core which is the 565 currently.

Athlon II X3 435 unlocked to Phenom II B35 (no L3)

---MANDATORY INFORMATION---
Processor: Phenom II x2 555
Unlock pass or fail: PASS!!! :D Quad currently at 3.8GHz
Motherboard: Foxconn A7DA-S 3.0
CPU Cooler: Scythe Mugen (Fanless, but bombarded by 140mm and 120mm Antec Tri-cools on high in Antec 300)
Voltage: 1.44v (Default of 1.26v with overvolt of 0.175v)

---ADDITIONAL INFORMATION---
CPU Stepping: Forgot exactly what it was, crappy cell phone pic doesn't help, either. I think it is similar to the one in Zarathustra's pic
BIOS Version: P07 (newest)
Stability test application(s) used: wPrime & IBT
Amount of time passed in stability app: wPrime 5 runs of 1024M, IBT 2 5-run tests
Any other pertinent info: Would take a while to post with all four cores enabled, have to turn off then on again or reset a few times to get post. (Also, apparently, A7DA-S doesn't like unlocking the cores, since there is almost no way to monitor temps, even the Temp1/2/3 barely changes when stressing/gaming.) <-- Forget this. All in an Antec 300 with 2 low-speed Yates in front, 1 Scythe Slipstream-L on the sidepanel.

Decided to edit this post rather than make a new one.
According to Speedfan, Temp 3 is my CPU temp. With the 120 and 140mm Tri-Cools set on high, I never go over 58°C. Stable Quad @ 3.8GHz,

I failed at this a while back and that motherboard currently has a 1090t in it. I actually have another motherboard where this Sempron will find its own home (BIOSTAR A780L3L) and I will try to raise voltage a bit, that is something I didn't even think about doing. I'll also be using the 1090t's stock cooler with some tuniq tx-4 since the 1090t has a corsair cooler. Even if I fail again with the biostar board I'll at-least try to get a good OC on the single core

Too bad I didn't see this thread before giving the PC to the owner...

I unlocked a Phenom II 555 (x2) last week. It is now running as a 4 core B55. I used ASRock 870 EXTREME3 MoBo with the onboard unlock utility. Everything was stable, no overclocking.

It makes me kind-of sick because I had him buy the parts, and the processor was on sale. I paid $150 for my 965 (x4), he paid $80 for the 555... I went ahead and gave him my old HSF from my 965, though temps seemed normal even with that puny 555 HSF (37-idle,64-load)... I'm betting that thing would overclock like a beast...

I wanted to update on my 555: Since it is a little warm in my house right now, I've been looking at how high I can clock my unlocked 555 without going over 1.35v. I think I have one of those 'retail availability' locked 555's, basically a chip that could be sold as a 95w 955/965, but since 555's sell better (cheaper) AMD locked the cores to make it a X2.

The chip runs up 3.6GHz unlocked to quad at default voltage (1.26v, I run an extra .05v on it for CnQ stability), and the CPU-NB runs up to 2.6GHz at 'stock' voltage (my A7DA-S keeps the CPU-NB voltage at 1.31-1.34v) I might try to see how far I can take the NB to before I need to increase the voltage.

---MANDATORY INFORMATION---
Processor: AMD Phenom II x2 550 Black Edition
Unlock pass or fail: PASS (all 4 cores)
Motherboard: Asus M4A79XTD EVO

Voltage: 1.34V

---ADDITIONAL INFORMATION---
CPU Stepping: 2
BIOS Version: 2001
Stability test application(s) used: Prime95, Super_PI, AMD OverDrive
Amount of time passed in stability app: one run of ~30min then let it run for a couple of more hours without a hitch, 2nd run of ~2hrs completed without errors or warnings
Any other pertinent info: didn't disable Cool'N'Quiet, just enabled the ACC to Auto and set it to Unleashed. 42ºC in full load, ~36ºC in idle

And to think I had this baby for over a year and a half now and had no idea how "special" it was...

Thanks to all those who posted! :D Check out my somewhat lucky results, and (please) chime in if you know your stuff and can help me get the most of it :) :

---MANDATORY INFORMATION---
Processor: AMD Athlon X3 450 - 3.2 Ghz(stock) -- cost=$75 new
Unlock pass or fail: PASSED
Motherboard: Asus M4N68T-M-V2 -- cost=$50 new
CPU Cooler: Stock AMD Athlon X3 fan & heatsink
Voltage: 1.428V vcore voltage(set with "AUTO" Asus BIOS settings, NOT manual) but the 4th core also ran fine with stock voltage.

---ADDITIONAL INFORMATION---
CPU Stepping: C3
BIOS Version: 0702
Stability test application(s) used: Prime95 (2-5 hours, will test more though)
Amount of time passed in stability app: 2-5 hrs
Any other pertinent info:

Bought the most potentially unlockable stuff I could find with lowly amount of money available. To add, only spent only $15 on new 1x 2GB of Patriot DDR3 PC10600. Total cost for cpu/mobo/ram upgrade = $145 shipped.

This version of BIOS does not seem to have ACC anywhere, maybe I need to upgrade my BIOS to see this feature???? Anyone know? PM me. So... I just used all the auto settings on this motherboard, which came with this version of BIOS (ver. 0702, dated Jan/2011, and didn't upgrade yet)

No L3 cache :( , but I easily unlocked the 4th core making my system:

Athlon X3 450 3.2Ghz
((((overclocked/unlocked to: )))
AMD Phenom II X4 B50 @ 3.306Ghz

Also, all of this was done with the feature "Cool 'n' Quiet" activated..... I tried turning it off and received the same results either way. With the unlock only, I get 49C in BIOS. With both unlock and AUTO overclock above it jumped to 51C degrees. I will update this page if OR when I upgrade my BIOS, and get a good cooler since I am only running stock CPU heatsink from AMD.

If your  L33t overclocking skills  can help me unlock the L3 cache with something my newb ass missed... please please please PM me, please.

For the [H]!

Current Clock: 3913MHz (200.7 x 19.5) all 4 cores stable.
Vcore: 1.475 (Bios) / 1.476 (CPU-Z loaded) LLC enabled

system kinda overkill for this chip. bought it for shits-&-giggles to play with CHV till Bulldozer arrives.... eventually.

thought chip was a dud when i first tried to unlock a few months ago till i realised you need to up the volts to support the extra cores. don't laugh, my first AMD system since my Operton 170 / Socket 939 board.

HOW did you get your hands on a 960t? I thought these were never mass-manufactured!

Are we still doing this? I just got a PhII X2 560 BE. I just assumed it might be in the same 'unlockable' category as my 550 BE, but I didn't see any results for the 560 BE. God I hope; I just bought this for my son's rig for his birthday. I think I am more excited than he is, at the prospect of getting to try another unlock, and see what it will run at.

My 550 BE easily has to be my favorite hardware purchase ever, for the unlocking potential, and the overclocking. it's just fun to buy.
