Post your AMD unlock pass/fail here! v. 2.0 + How to unlock (Please limit discussion)

again, all chips are different.....at stock settings they all will run almost identical, but at anything above the variance is higher....all depends on how good the silicon is, and where it was on the wafer.....hell some chips from a known good chip(say 955) could possibly over clock like shit....

yeah i understand what youre saying, but im trying to reiterate the fact that the guy that i mentioned pushed his mobo to 275. would that be in turn pushing the capabilities of his mobo as well since ordovician stated that i am already pushing my 785g to the limit with 260?

Every motherboard is different, and every CPU is different. Clocking up the HT bus stresses not just the mobo's northbridge, but also the CPU's onboard memory controller. HT bus limits can vary dramatically depending on the particular board, the CPU, and other factors like the power supply and RAM. So, basically, you can't really expect to get exactly the same HT bus as anyone else. You're at 260, which is pretty good for a 7-series board.

Any other pertinent info:Running at 3.2 with 1.4 voltage.

I had thought that maybe this cpu would not unlock, but it turned out to be a power supply issue. I thought it was, but never cared enough to try until i upgraded my PSU to a BFG unit. (the old supply caused a shut down while booting windows) HT running at 250 on stock voltage. It sat there churning away for over a year and now it's a quad.

Any other pertinent info: When set to unlock, even if cores 3 and 4 are disabled, core 0 fails any stability test within a few seconds but the rest of the cores (core 1-3) are fine. I tried this on a 790 chipset motherbaord too and I get the same issue. Seems a bit strange to me.

I've been cycling between LGA775-Core-i3 530-Laptop-i3-AM2+-AM3+SATA6G for months. Could never made up my mind.

Today I was reminded again basic of work with what I have, and I do have 4xDDR2-800 2GB modules unused. I do want to do some testings and I am really limited by existing PC. I did not know what really influenced me I went out straight to the shop for upgrade.

I keep all others but swapped out the motherboard and processor. It is now a Phenom II 555 and Asus M4A785D-M PRO motherboard. I selected Asus because in future in case I upgrade again to different setup, I can put in the ECC RAM for server duty.

I needed BIOS update to unlock. Required in IDE mode to use the BIOS EZ Flash 2 utility for it to find the USB flash drive. After that everything went smoothly.

I now use Asus built-in BIOS automatic function to unlock the core. It seems 4-core available. Because I am using Fedora, I do not have easy way to do other necessary tests. I am really more interested in core than clock in this case so no overclocking. In fact I downclock in BIOS but somehow the Asus BIOS reset clock back to stock at 3.2GHz. I have to use Linux software setting to downclock it to reduce heat. I am using stock heatsink.

Edit : After a fresh boot, the machine now honors the BIOS setting. Currently 4 cores downclocked. My BIOS temperature idle reading is 42+C stock heatsink. Appreciate info if you felt this is not good.

Couple of questions real fast before I head home and do this today (Just finished hooking up all computer parts at work).

1. Where do I access the options to turn off Cool N Quiet?

2. Am I able to increase Vcore simply through my bios? I have a MSI 870-G45 AM3 AMD 770 ATX mobo.

3. After all that, it's just simply setting EC Firmware Selection to Hybrid and ACC (Advanced Clock Calibration) to Auto, and then restarting the computer right?

Thanks for the help.

I will be running Prime95 when I go to bed tonight.
Edit: After experimenting some more, i am now at 3.4GHz, 1.43 Volts, CPU-NB is running at 2.4GHz. This is stable so far, only downside is that I am running pretty hot. I believe this to be from my heatsink.

just picked up another 555 BE, unlocked to 4 cores, 24hr prime @ 1.2v @ 3.2GHz

thats the good part

now for the bad news... I powered down and went to change the heatsink out... I reach down to clean the TIM off and as I did I must have grounded my body against something because it sent a terrible shock through my body... I know my finger touched the heat spreader thats when I felt the shock

tests have confirmed the CPU is dead... that is sad I had high hopes for this little guy... I mean 3.2GHz @ 1.2v is awesome... imagine what this baby could have done under my -24c chiller with a solid 1.6v or more...

R.I.P.

ok so I just picked up 2 more of these

the first one is looking good so far 1.1v @ 3.2Ghz about 11 hours into a prime 95 test

already did 100 LinX passes and 3dmark all good so far

this will replace the chip that died

then the other one is for my buddy...

all 4 unlocked on MSI 785GM-P45, 3.6GHz @ 1.389v (lowest this board will allow for this chip)

Where did you get those two from that are super low voltage?

Also what about batch numbers on both of them?

No f-ing way! I live in Manhattan but my parents live in Olathe. I might just need to swing by Microcenter there in OP just to see if I can get a magic 555.

Last I checked, there was nothing to unlock on the 965's, so this was not included. Please tell me you got it to be a hex core ;)

Any other pertinent info: Either this motherboard with its non-cooled MOSFETs or the CPU itself don't like going past 3.1ghz regardless of voltage. But hey, an extra core + 300+ mhz is still a nice bonus, though I'm running it at just 3.0 just to keep things 100% stable no matter what. Too bad I'm in the middle of a separation and this rig is going to my ex. :(

CPU Cooler: Rosewill RCX-ZAIO (92mm fan, aluminum fins, copper heatpipes)
Voltage: 1.335

I ran Prime95 around 4 times for about 3 hours each. All passes, no fails with the exception on the first time. Apparently my motherboard didn't detect the right timings for the RAM and i got a blue screen. A simple change to correct the timings fixed the problem. Ran it 3 more times without issue. I have yet to run Prime95 for any longer than 3 hours at a time, though.

EDIT: voltage fixed. Thought it was 1.345, it's 1.335 :)
