oh? im not used to amd, last time was a 939 and was to be kept around 1000 lol
ill definitely upclock it then lol

also, that post is now dated as i have it running prime95 at

The pci and fsb setting help for running older gpu's. I currently have a nVidia 8400gs that is over clocked using evga precision and even that barely ran BC2, now i am able to run it on medium with no lag.

It seems no matter how hard i try i can not get bast the 3.6 mark. even locked back to a dual core im lucky to post much less log into windows. And i was really hoping to get close to 4:D

New here,

I got a quick question. I just unlocked my Phenom II x2 555BE into quad. I raised the CPU Volt to 1.4 and the NB to 1.25 Yesterday I did a small FTTs test and I let it run for 6 hours and had zero errors. I have a MSI 785G E-51 mobo.

This morning I let it run for 5 hours on blend and got an error on one of the cores right when I got home to check it.

Should I do something else to make it more stable? Or is this a failed quad?

My temps are around 55C on full load quad core. They are about 43C full load dual core.

If thats a real TWKR Phenom II its worth a bundle I have a CPU Magazine just on the TWKR which is a hand picked processor for only the Best overclockers in the World. Just google TWKR.

General inquiries are fine. We just want to avoid people doing ALL of their helping and troubleshooting in this thread. This is obviously not the place for that. However, if you want to ask a quick question or comment on someone's setup that's reported here, go right ahead. It's actually encouraged, since the more info we gather, the better.

I hope that makes sense

I'm kind of interested in how good the IMC is on these that unlock. I've got a 555 that seems voltage thirsty when trying to run more then 2600 on the cpu-nb. Don't get me wrong, its a lot better than the 550 that I have that fully unlocks too. To run 2600 cpu-nb, I'm closing in on 1.4v where as the 555 does it with .100v less. Pushing beyond there though really starts eating away at the volts.

I've skimmed through some of the voltages and speeds of the C3 X4s and they appear to do better than my C3. I just wanted to ask everyone else what they've been able to do to see if maybe its just the chip.

All 4 cores unlock fine and the system runs fine in normal desktop usage but shuts off during testing. I thought the system shutting down during stress testing was due to the PS but I got a new 460W PS with 2 18V rails and that should certainly be enough using the onboard vid and 1 HD. Strange that the system actually shuts completely off instead of just crashing or locking up. How do you determine what cores it is using in 2 core mode? I want to try enabling the other cores one at a time to see if there is one bad core.
Any suggestions for stabilizing the system? More Vcore?

Did you watch your voltage during testing to see how stable it was? I've had one experience with a MSI board (770-C45) and I really didn't like it. It did unlock my 550 without a problem at stock voltage but I was using a 650w Neopower Antec. My voltage will still all over the place during load testing and it made overclocking a challenge.

Also, what power supply are you running? I know you said your not running much but if it is a cheap unit that could give you problems too. What's the max combined wattage or amperage of the two 12v rails?

Did you try testing it loaded on 2 cores or overclocked on just 2 cores? Shutting down sounds like overload/temperature protection on the power supply.

Yeah, I tried 2 different PS... the 460 I mentioned is a new Cooler Master Elite with 2x12V rated at 18A each. I did test it loaded on 2 cores and it was fine. The shut down problem seems like a MB issue but I can't be certain since the MB won't post after I updated the bios. I sent an RMA request to MSI over a week ago and still haven't heard anything from them.

Thanks jdlucid and Kueller. Been seeing those 10xx batches on Ebay recently and wasn't too sure about them.

For anyone looking for a known AM3 chip that unlocks, best advise I would give it watch Ebay. I've picked up now 3 chips (550, 555, and 435) that fully unlock and were known decent overclockers. All while paying no more than list for them.

With that said, got to add in that Athlon I mentioned. All voltages are stock and correctly shown in AOD.

Any other pertinent info: Unlocks fully including L3 cache and is stable. Set ACC to hybrid, per core 0,0,0,-2% from the get go. Leaving ACC set to hybrid but disabled did not unlock anything extra.

For anyone looking for a Athlon with possible L3 cache to unlock, just check for the core code to be CACYC AC for a C2 chip. Those will be the ones that use a Deneb core and not the normal Propus core.

I`m having trouble getting over 3.0ghz. I tried adjusting the NB and HT but it wont POST sometimes. What should I be looking at in terms of NB/HT? Im using OCZ OCZ2VU8002G4GB DDR2800

You'll have to raise the NB chipset voltage and the CPU memory controller voltage. A 260 mhz HT bus is already pushing what a 785G chipset is capable of, though. You might just be running into your motherboard's limitation.
