Post up your video card collection!!

This is probably not exactly what you're looking for in this thread, because I haven't kept all my GPUs (moved intercontinentally, and then nationally, so I could never bring all my stuff with me). I do always track what I've owned historically though:

I wish I held on to some of the GPUs I have had over the years, but right now I have a GTX 590 Classified Hydrocopper, MSI GTX 970 and an evga GTX 1080. Love looking at the older cards its cool to see what they had for cooling.

How much to part with the S18 Pro? Money talks? Everything has it's price?

you can buy the fan assembly for $9.99 + $14.95 S/H over at EBAY

So here we go... I have more that I need to dig out of storage but here’s a lot of old video cards that I’ve collected over the years... most are functional.

Post up your cards !!! (I know Erek has some)

Just picked up this bad boy. Diamond Edge 3D, new sealed box. Nvidia NV1 based.

I think I have the classic Schroedinger's cat problem. I don't know if its really a sealed NV1 or if someone took the video card and re-sealed it. But to see, I have to break the seal!

I wish I had kept all the cards I've own through the years! Some awesome collections!

Same here. This thread got me all nostalgic. I have been at my desk all day today going through old email receipts and even my paper file drawer so I could compile my CPU and GPU history. The best I can do here is post stock photos. My first video card was a 3dfx Voodoo 3 2000. The only cards I have now are my current RX 590 and the R9 290x from my last rig.

I could easily name the cards I have owned that redefined the way looked at PC gaming or was totally blown away.
Voodoo3 3000 went from onboard graphics to this baby.
Geforce256 absolutely improved visuals and performance.
Radeon r290 made me think outside the box and look at computing differently and what happens when you mine a 300watt card in a home in the US also the massive increase in electric bill. It does make me wish I kept the 31LTC it mined for me!
1080ti 4k gaming baaaaby, this card is just a beast nuff said.
There were many other cards but these are the ones that stand out as my favs.

On a side note. What was everyone's 1st Dedicated Graphics Chip? Cirrus Logic 5430 PCI 1MB upgraded to 2MB. omg... I know! (of course, this discounts the Apple 2C's 65C02 as it wasn't dedicated to graphics.)

A Trident 8900C 1MB

My collection of cards consists of 1 card actually, a Diamond Monster 3D, that I got new in 1997.

NV4 chipset by way of STB systems RIVA TNT that came in my very first PC = Dell Dimension 1998. (shown in post #40).
Couple of my PC gamer friends had to stop by and see for themselves because they were convinced one needed a 3dfx card to render 3D graphics. We all know what happened later.

What methods have you used to clean them? They look brand new!

Damn, that Ti 500, damn, damn, damn!!!!

I use Freon-TF to clean them. Just spray it, and 30 seconds later it looks and smells brand new. Some of the pictures the graphics cards aren't cleaned, but most of them are. I disassemble everything that has a fan or shroud, cleaning that separately.

got one of those sitting in my scrap pile right now. worth anything?
Depends if it works or not. I bought mine a few months back for $26 because it was only labeled by the STB part number on Ebay, but they usually go for $60-$100 or so. (although the market fluctuates week to week)

This thread hits me right in the nostalgias. Knocked one loose, actually, and it is rolling around under my desk.

A Trident 8900C 1MB

My collection of cards consists of 1 card actually, a Diamond Monster 3D, that I got new in 1997.

I continuously sold my old cards back out. My 1st system of any kind was an Apple 2C, Then a Packard Bell Pentium 75 with aforementioned Cirrus logic 5430 PCI on the motherboard. I added an S3 Virge 325 2MB and later added a Canopus Pure 3D 6MB which blew all my buddies away because it could run a higher resolution in games than any 4MB Voodoo 1. I kept that for the longest time till the end of the Voodoo 3 Era where I bought a cheap Voodoo 3 3000 AGP. My next card is quite a leap. Geforce 1 DDR-DVI. I skip the 2 and get a 3 a 4 a FX a 7800 SLI a 260-216 triple SLI, 4 470's hacked to 480 bios's in quad sli with a 216 doing physics (5 cards at once... now that was quite a thing.) 3 570's with a 470 doing physics then 3 290X's watercooled. Then 2 Vega 64's that ended up in Mac's and now 2 Frontier Edition Vega 16GB custom watercooled. Quite the ride from my measly 5430 onboard PCI. but now Nvidia and AMD are fighting crossfire and sli support and are trying to restrict it more to really try and force the market to use 1 card so they don't have to support the programming. What I didn't realize was how few people actually used SLI / Crossfire. The % of the gaming pc market that actually used it was in the low single digits. I suspect hanging out with Hardocp all this time has screwed my concept of reality lol.

As a partial minimalist, collecting is not my thing, but I enjoy the passion in this thread! Now that I think about it, I kinda wish I still had my XFX 6950, such a pleasing design to me.

i'm trying to understand why some people collect and some don't. i also want to understand why some people will collect common hardware instead of rare.

any ideas why you're not into collecting (any details and depth into why would be appreciated)

thank you

I guess it is just stressful to me when I think about dusting, storing, organizing, and otherwise maintaining a collection of things that serve no modern purpose aside from nostalgia. I find I do not become attached to physical items, so it is easy for me to discard/sell things that are no longer of immediate use to me. The fewer things I have to worry about, the more calm I feel.

I see some people on youtube with thousands of video games in their collection and I cant imagine trying to dust, organize, store, track, that much stuff. Not to mention if that person ever has to move across the country or something. It also bothers me when shelves dont match up, things dont fit exactly on the shelf, things are not organized/in order etc. I guess its just a personality thing!

Damnit guys! Love the collections! Wish I had saved mine over the years. Many were sold to people who needed them. I will post pics when I get home Monday. I started up a collection again, especially of card I have not owned before. My Vid card history goes from a Trident 9680 2Mb PCI> Daytona 64 4Mb PCI>VooDoo 3 2000 PCI 16Mb>Riva TNT2 64 AGP 16Mb>GeForce 2 MX 200 AGP 32Mb>Radeon 9000Pro AGP 128Mb>Radeon 9600LE AGP 128Mb>Radeon X800XL PCIe 256Mb>Radeon HD4850 PCIe 1Gb>Radeon HD6970 PCIe 2Gb> R7 270x PCIe 4Gb>RX480 PCIe 8Gb (Current)

Cards acquired since starting collection. Radeon X800XTX AGP 256 Mb, Radeon 4870 PCIe (parts:unknown ram), Radeon X1900 PCIe (unknown atm:will update), Radeon HD4850 PCIe (unknown until powerup), Radeon x250 PCIe 2Gb, GeForce 670 PCIe 2Gb, Geforce GTX 970 PCIe 4Gb (in second system current:flawless).

The 970 is the first GeForce card I have had operational in a system of mine since the GeForce 2 I had. Have been team red for a while, but it is nice to try team green. Thinking about it, what an interesting upgrade path I took. As you all can see, I skipped many generations. I like to push my cards until I find a game that I want and my card will crawl. I don't overclock my cards as I am not really good at it, otherwise I would've skipped more generations. I am waiting for Navi to upgrade from my trusty RX 480. Vega sucks and RTX is a joke and stupid expensive.
