Possible to run 64GB over 1600Mhz?

I heard that if you populate all the 8 DIMM slots on a X79 board with 64GB of RAM installed, it will be unstable at either 1600Mhz or over, is this true? I'm planning to build a server and I would like to have 64GB installed and I'm wondering if I buy a RAM set that is over 1600Mhz, will it be possible to have speeds over that or is having 64GB of RAM at 1600Mhz or under is the limit?

I haven't seen this before (well, haven't tried). What does the board documentation say?

I'm running 64GB on an X79 Asus Sabertooth @1866 with a 32GB RamDisk. Oh yes, it is possible.

I can't imagine a socket 2011 server would see any benefit whatsoever for RAM over 1600MHz, considering 2 channel SB barely shows any improvement going from 1333 to 1600 much less over 1600 in anything other than memory benchmarks.

Save your money and stick with 1600.
