That's how I feel about it too.

At least this generation they gave us TI's at launch, instead of releasing them after Titan cards, with close to Titan performance, for 1/2 the price.

It's not going to give you a letronic high like you wouldn't believe from your ATX case I give you that I mean how many games can you digest in a year?
Personally going to skip it since the 1080ti should be good for 3-4 years it's not going to make you toast any faster it's not going to make games any better unless you are
running that new ASUS 27" Gsync 144hz 4k monitor.

Preordered 2 FE Ti's from Nvidia along with the NVlink. It looks like they are now out of stock there as well.

I have a preorder in, but I'm hitting the cancel button with the fist of an angry God if benchmarks aren't good.

    I'll wait.

I needed a new GPU now and found an EVGA 1080 FTW2 at MicroCenter for $470 just yesterday. I have 30 days to return it so I figured I have a couple of options if the 20x0 ends up being great:

    1) The 20x0s supposedly release on the 19th so if the benchmarks are good I could return the 1080 before the return period is up and grab the 2070 for a similar price.
    2) Use the EVGA Step-up to move to a 2070 for a "minimal" cost bump.

Of course I guess that it's mostly for e-peen in my case; I hardly need a 1080 (let alone a 20x0) for LoL, MTG: Arena, and The Binding of Isaac...

All the people in the past who said they wouldn't buy a video card for $1k are preordering now.

Wait for 7nm.... well 5nm is close too... wait for 5nm....

If a few of you could cancel preorders so I could snag one that’d be great. Thanks.

Pretty sure "return window" isn't a lease program... that's why we can't have nice things.

I jumped on the pre-order train knowing that I could always cancel if benchmarks sucked. Based on what I've seen, that's not going to be an issue. I was willing to settle for any of the cards except the Asus single-fan one but lucked into the EVGA 3-slot monster. I'm looking forward to seeing what this bad boy can do. 4K/60 looks to be a reality for almost everything.

So I have a feeling this won’t be an easy chip to keep in stock and the price may stay the same for a while. The chip is huge and complicated, if history teaches us anything it’s that big + complicated cores means Big Trouble in Little Fab Town. Plus these will be fairly popular with their RT hardware.

That's basically an devil's advocate other side to this post they made earlier: https://www.tomshardware.com/news/wait-to-buy-nvidia-geforce-rtx-gpus,37673.html
The way it's written is definitely less than impartial, though. Then again, impartial articles don't get clicks either :p

i actually have founder's edition pre-ordered on bestbuy since i can cancel that online anytime and even if i miss cancel window, i can take it to bestbuy store and return it easy unlike getting one from nvidia.com.

But yeah ultimately waiting for review to decide if i'm keeping it or not

When I last looked on Nvidia site, the Founders Edition pre-orders were bought up through the end of November. That was a week ago, too. I pre-ordered my GTX1080 from them a few years ago and they delayed my shipment even further than the date estimate. I suppose that gives people plenty of time to read reviews, but at that point I'd probably look for another retailer.

NowInStock.net is still showing random pre-orders popping up on Best Buy and Newegg more or less daily. They're selling fast, but at least they're still showing up for those that want one. I don't think I could justify a pre-order that doesn't arrive until Christmas when there are others shipping in 3 weeks.

What I'm doing as well. I'll purchase it, wait for reviews, and if it's not worth it, return it unopened. Win win.

It's just out of my Price Range even for myself who "lives at home and I work at Walmart." Plus I'm a casal hardcore gamer. I would have to save 2-3 pay checks just to budget for one 2080ti. I think I'm going to wait untill 2020 like any other sane person hopefully they come out with something with a lower price that is just as good or better. You can buy one ounce of gold for the same price of this card and personally I would rather have the gold because it would never go down in value unlike this card 5 years from now.

early adopters pay the price. you know the ray tracing is going to suck and the 2nd/3rd gen cards will be far far superior. I am taking a pass on these.

True, but shine a light on it and the Ray tracing is much better than Nvidia's

This is what I assumed as well given that all the Nvidia promotional images have "Under embargo until 14 September 2018" or something like that.

The 14th should allow the vast majority of pre-orders to be cancelled, so it's no big deal to put one in if you're on the fence. It might not be the case everywhere, but at least Amazon and Newegg don't even charge you until the product is in stock.

This is really the best way to do it if you're hard up for a new card, IMO. Preorder, then cancel if performance/price isn't acceptable (and pick up a used 10xx series or wait for 7nm from AMD or NV). That way, you're throwing off nV's sales forecasts as well as not giving them your hard earned cash for a sub-par offering. You could also accept delivery, then return, but this is kind of a D move towards the reseller IMO.

I've got a preorder in for a 2080 and my finger will be hovering over "cancel" on the 14th.

Gotta be pretty hard up for cash for that. After the shipping / fees probably not much profit. Then factor in the risk of getting scammed.

Half the time I gift things for free just to avoid the nonsense on ebay.

I bought it straight from Nvidia so a return is a win-win.

I mean I realize Digital River is involved, but they often suck too.
