Exactly how do you censor 8,000 websites, including Facebook and Google, on accident?

A “human error” carried out by the police resulted in thousands of websites being completely blocked at the DNS level yesterday. Danish visitors to around 8,000 sites including Google and Facebook were informed that the sites were being blocked by the country’s High Tech Crime Unit due to them offering child pornography, a situation which persisted for several hours.

Precursor/test to what the FBI will be doing on March 8th when they shut down DNS servers infected with DNSChanger?
 
So..what, a whole bunch of people had to turn away from their computers and, I dunno, talk to other people face-to-face, or get out and enjoy the weather, or play with their kids? Sounds like a Geek Tragedy to me...
 
Yes... because government should have a right to tell you to enjoy the weather, or talk to people face to face. Probably should tell you when you have to take a dump too.

It sickens me that these idiots will use "but think of the children" to shut down / defame sites... and probably get away with it, consequence free. Some of the bigger companies on that list should sue for lost revenue / defamation.... but i doubt they'll bother to go through with it.

How does that work if a user uses OpenDNS and a VPN client? It doesn't! They are idiots if they think doing that is going to stop the criminals.

The last time I talked to a person face to face all they had to talk about was the weather. Fuck that shit, I've got better things to do with my time.
