PNY 128GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive $8.95 @ Amazon

A great price for sure...

I have some older 16, 32 & 64GB pny drives that are still working just fine since day 1, hopefully these larger ones are of the same quality....

That's a crazy good price. I might get one. The 256 is only 16 bucks. Incredible.

is it prime free shipping? cause i don't have prime and the shipping ruins it lol

13-20MB write speed is pretty slow though.
The Sandisk 128GB I have does 375MB/s writes.
It is 4x the cost @ $40 https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-SDCZ880-128G-G46-Extreme-128GB-Solid/dp/B01MU8TZRV

These are ok for backup drives I guess but OMG they are so slow. In fact most of my PNY ones are. Still.... $9....

OTOH think of the infinite amount of music you could put on one of these and use it in your car. I mean only have a 16gb stick in my car and it holds like 100 albums

It's slow? I was thinking of putting Win 11 on it? But it would be a waste cause it has so much space. But the price is the same as anything smaller so lol

Yeah would be a bit of a waste for a Win iso, those are 8gb

It's honestly too slow for Windows unless you have extreme patience.

Grabbed on of these the other day for backing up my old PS4 cap gallery/garbage before i unload it.

Maybe 128gb is more than you need for one Windows iso, but if you put Ventoy on the drive you can use it for a bunch of bootable ISO's & still use it as a regular flash drive.
MAN do I wish that existed (and/or I knew about it) when I was doing desktop work. Very cool util..

Oh cool I will have to check that out. No more reformat and Rufus to make bootable USBs would be sweet

Looks like a cool tool and something I could use for different bootable tools I use often...but, it's Chinese right? Anyone do a deep dive on it to see if there is anything with it to worry about? Sorry, but had to ask.

Of course no one has... Yet I'm sure they'll all swear by it being the most safe and secure thing in the world.

Not everything originating from China is some spying tool. Not saying one should immediately trust any software, but the level of paranoia of anything China is overblown . Being an open source program, I would tend to trust it more than some corporate app doing the samething.

Build a VM , put linux or windows on it- install wireshark - insert USB Key, and watch.....one way to find out

At about that price you can get an enclosure and 512GB NVME which will be way faster and hold a lot more data.

I have the 2TB version in a Sabrent enclosure, but it's much larger and not plug and play, you need to have a cable with you.
The Sandisk is small and you can carry it around in your pocket without it feeling really bulky.

So because scamazon, test your drive with h2testw to make sure it's not some fake. Seems to always an issue when deals like this pop up on slickdeals. :cautious:

Good call. Bought a 128gb SanDisk drive once that ended up being an 8gb drive with a corrupted partition table.
