I'm looking for some advice. I just got a 260 GTX but want to make sure it will work on my Coolermaster 550w power supply. I'm presently using an 8800 GTS which requires 400w and 26 amps on the +12V rail and my Coolermaster 550 has 16 amps on each of the +12V rails. I'm concerned because the 260 GTX requires a minimum 500w and 36 amps on the +12V rail. Seeing as how I have 32 amps on both +12V rails, I want to make sure it is enough. Will it give me enough overhead or should I splurge and buy a 750w unit? Thanks!

you should be fine, give it a go. Im runing my 260 on a stealthXstream 500 watt psu without any problems, its a OCZ which are great psu's but its running fine.

I posted a thread nearly IDENTICAL to this a week or so ago. I was also running an 8800gts and upgraded to a GTX260 and was running a OCZ GameXtreme 600w. I have everything in my sig (and prolly a lot not listed like drives and USB crap) running off that OCZ 600w without a hiccup. I was contemplating upgrading to a Tagan 800w or similar supply. Haven't yet...but will eventually.

:EDIT: and for reference, the OCZ I have has 4x12v rails @16A each. And works just fine during hours of gaming with both the GTX260 and the 8800GTS (doing physx duty) running.

I picked up the 1000w Antec for $150 in the Hot Deals section. Now I don't have to worry about running lean with the 550.
