Pioneer SP-BS22-LR Bookshelf speaker

Pretty awesome speakers. I have the center, Floor standing, and bookshelf sets for my 5.1 and I have zero complaints about the amount of sound I get.

Agreed, I bought mine right after these came out, and was my only time ever getting a price mistake honored. I love them to this day.

Same price as from Fry's during BF. Got a pair then.

Upgraded from these to Emotiva airMotiv 5 and a standalone DAC.

I don't have these myself, but you might want to try out NoAudioPhile's dsp correction for these, if you got in on the deal.

Also if I was going to try out this deal currently, I would just grab a Lepai 2020Ti and see if it has enough juice to drive them at nearfield the way you want:

20$ investment (well you need some cables, but yeah). Don't bother with the DAC, just use the PC out on the MB (unless it's noisy); most DAC's are decent enough these days. A little over 80$ total for the set (maybe 85-90 if you factor in wires). Cheaper than the HOCP setup, should do most people fine.
