GPU-Z says Util is "Limited by GPU utilization". That makes sense as it not being utilized at the desktop.I thought "Util" meant current utilization of the GPU, as in you aren't using it (it's idle, doing nothing), so the clock speed is reduced since there is nothing for the GPU to do.
So is seeing VRel or Pwr normal? I guess is it normal to always see something other than Util while playing a game?Yes, the Util means the framerate is being limited by a utility, usually RTSS or Precision if you have some sort of FPS cap set in those programs. Pwr means the card is running slower due to hitting the TDP limit and VRel I dont really know off hand.
I would say so, I see Util in game even because I have Precision set to lock my FPS at 59 to avoid screen tearing with vsync being on but also reducing the input lag induced by vsync. Pwr is common as hitting the TDP limit happens and isn't a problem. VRel I would have to look up to see if it is a problem or not, but I would think it is ok as I have seen it on many GPUs' I have owned over the years and never had a problem. So is seeing VRel or Pwr normal? It is. I think VRel in GPU-Z gets tripped anytime the voltage of your GPU changes, which can happen constantly given the nature of Boost. But you can lessen the instances of Pwr simply by using an overclocking program to increase the power target to maximum. I'd recommend doing it along with the temp target, anyway, as doing so will level off the clock speed you'll see while playing games. So is seeing VRel or Pwr normal?
