I want the heatsink off this old Pentium II since its narrow,i have a use for it with some epoxy. Anyhow, it uses hex nuts, but its one long bolt and it just spins in place, how the hell do i unscrew these and remove the heatsink?

this is what it looks like:

its retail box cpu, they were not ment to be seperated. if i were you, id go to your mom and pop store, and try buying one for a few $, since thats a dual board, and matched cpu setup, i wouldnt break it up, but thats me

I have something similar already handling fileserving, website, and DHCP duties. I need one for the mail and Domain controller. High horsepower dosent help with small networks, and duallies serve things smoother.

Just get ya a big screwdriver and hammer and pound the screwdriver into the heatsink and twist real hard and break it apart. However, be careful you might damage a very costy .50c cpu.
