PCI-e WLAN Options

What are you guys using for PCI-e wireless on desktop systems these days? I am thinking about this combo. Open to other ideas:

Intel 9560NGW https://www.ebay.com/itm/192516411065

NGFF to PCI-e adater https://www.ebay.com/itm/202108872622

I liked this adapter because of the RF shield it comes with.
Awfully cheap. What speeds?

I bought an ASUS setup, with a 3-antenna setup with a long cable so that you can locate away from the systems unit for better signal range.

Intel m.2 with adapter is the way to go, getting decent rp-sma antennas to go with it is half the battle.

Although I managed to get one of the 4x4 asus (broadcom) pcie cards super cheap which comes with a pretty good antenna. While it does have better range and speeds with a like-generation router its still not worth the 2-3 times typical retail cost. Was totally worth the $40 that microcenter had marked as one open-box/clearance even though it was still shrink-wrapped ;)

In linux you have to yank the firmware blob from their access point files that has the same radio, its apparently not released out there in the raw lol.

When all else fails, get off your butt and run a cable.

That should be a good combo. I did something similar with the 7gen ac 2x2 setup and it works perfectly

Wow, THANKS! for this idea. I had no idea that such adapters existed. I dug through my parts box and found an Intel 7260HMW which I can now use in a similar setup. Thanks again for a brilliant out-of-the-box idea.
