I know in RC5-72/BTC Mining you can cut an x1 slot and stick a Radeon in. The bandwidth is sufficient to keep the card fed for those applications since they're not loading/unloading a lot of data.

Does this hold true in F@H? Has anyone tried it?

Yes it does work

It does not give you the full ppd that you would expect from the card.

Before 2 and 3 slot mobos where common this was a good option.

Now almost any good mobo will have 2x slots (or more)

what makes you say that?

I'm pretty sure I ran either a GTX260 or GTX275 in an x1 slot without any noticeable slowdown at all.

I'm rembering a thread from a few years ago where tiger and a few others all went over this.

I think it came out that for folding a 2x was required.

However, the client has changed.... and I'm trying to remember a 3 year old thread.

That might have been pcie 1.0 too. Bandwidth has doubled since then.
