From inside the bowels of PC Club again come first hand reports of the retailer/e-tailer shutting its doors. It is rumored that $2,000,000 is funding did not come through and PC Club is finally done, stick a fork in’em; hot on the heels of May’s return. District Managers should have all gotten the call by now.

Good luck to you [H]’ers looking for jobs!!

That sucks, they are literally the last local place in my area that I can visit when I'm in a bind and need something immediately.

Problem is, that if you and others only use them as a last resort then they don't get the money to stay in businsess.

That sucks for anyone who worked there. Hopefully some started to look for jobs after the last closing and got out early.

There's a small place near me and when they have what I want I go there first. Still, they would be in trouble relying on my business alone.

While it's sad to see the 'smaller' places go the PC Club here in San Diego has always been terrible in just about every aspect. I remember paying something a 80-100% price premium over NewEgg on most parts I purchased there. Even more of a last resort than the final level of Hell AKA Fry's Electronics in my book simply because of that, and the absolute 'don't give a damn' attitude of the employees doesn't really help either. Here's to hoping something better comes along.

Yeah I can confirm that they filed bankruptcy, though this time around, they apparently did it for real.

LOL

Yeah, as a now former employee, I can also confirm that shat has hit the fan for PC Club.

Well, its been a fun couple months. Time to find another job.

Oh and...if you have repairs at PC Club still pending...sucks to be you. =(

Well always sucks to hear how Bad other PC Club stores treated their customers. I am one of the techs at the Tigard Oregon store and we stayed until 5:30PM to get as many customers as possible their computers that were in for service.

We were told at 12pm that this was it. they told the DMs first at that moment. No one else other then HQ people up until 12pm. That was it Game Over Man.

We at the Tigard store tried our best to help everyone we could. Anyone in the Tigard, Beaverton, Tualatin or sorrounding areas feel free to PM me and we can work something out on service.

The store in Oklahoma City stayed open until 5pm local and tried to contact as many as they could to come pick up paid orders and machines in for repair.

Looks like PCC couldn't find anything but shady firms to run the show.

This is nothing against those that worked at PCC, but I've never had good service from, in three different states. IMO they were overpriced, poor selection (from "top of the line" to "bottom of the barrel") and at times the tech's tried to pass off crap hardware as good hardware. Factor in the recession, online retailers, and places like Fry's and most mom/pop stores to even chains like PCC and CompUSA just can not compete. Thankgod Newegg has cheap and fast shipping.

Yeah well it was BULLSHIT that we were told NOT to call customers about their systems..

I completely agree. I still cannot believe it. We have about five systems that were ready to leave our store from repair, and we actually called them in the morning before we found out, TELLING THEM that they were ready for pick up.

To be honest, I was sorta pissed. I mean, its not like the Chapter 7 was completely unexpected. Seriously...we sold AIR CONDITIONERS at one point. But to not even inform customers about their systems? Now thats what I call customer service.

Another interesting tidbit of information...if you look up PCC at Los Angeles' BBB website, it gives us a nice rating too.... =\.

actually fry's knows how to compete. They have enough volume and have speical arrangements with companies to stock their stuff on their selves. There are load of great deals...along with rebates that needs to be dealt with. The only sucks is their employees, who are bunch of idiots working their arse off for commission + having a gun stick to their head. Plus, their return policy has put a lot of B&Ms in the 90's out of businesses. Fry's will stay in business for a really really long time...because they know how make money. :p You know how they are dealing with the bad economy, laying off the vets/ppl with yrs+ at fry's, cutting hours.

Now, its all about online retailers with the best prices + best service (if problems do arise).

Big business, eats little business. Big business moves to India, where products can be developed for far cheaper and economy is hurt all around.

I'm not pointing fingers, just sad by the position we've allowed ourselves to fall in.

If you think this is just Dell or HP I am referring to, it has hit almost every industry.

Check Ford's and GM's ticker when you get a chance

OCRS tech checking in. This really wasn't a surprise to anybody that worked at PC Club or had been into a PC Club in the last few months. I got out a few weeks ago, err, was put on "reduced work hours" a few weeks ago to ZERO hours. I was hired just over three years ago at the tail end of the "good PC Club", with Jackson barely at the helm still. Unfortunatly I saw it go from that good company it was to the shithole it became in the last few years, months and weeks. I loved the crew I worked with will miss them, I won't miss PC Club in any way, shape or form.

Even us employees always bought from Newegg, as the rest of you should too.

Best of luck with the job hunt fellow Clubbers.

Forever your 2005 PC Club 4th of July Picnic Limbo Champ,

But it was still better than Best Buy or CompUSA.

Not surprised in the least. ClubIT just hasn't been the same since their near brush with death. They never really had anything decent in stock. The RAM, motherboards, and video cards sections just remained bare or stocked no-name brands.

Speaking of shady business, my friend had to return an ECS 770 board TWICE at Fry's only to figure out the Phenom 9750 he got with it as a combo isn't really supported by that board. How can back to back boards starting giving CMOS errors? I told him switch to a way better mobo manufacturer and try to get a 9550 or 9150e for compatibility.

PC Club, Fresno, Ca. was my emergency standby store. If a customer needed something NOW, and I didn't have it in stock (from newegg, of course), PC Club (prior to it's first closing) had it.
Their tech people helped me out in a few situations I couldn't figure out, and even saved several hundred GB's of information off a dead (to me, anyways) hard drive. Considering that "information" was pcitures of Iraq, taken by a wounded American soldier, I was very happy.
The Fresno staff was great, helpful, (and after the first closing) apologetic over the lack of inventory.
To be honest, they will be missed.
Thanks PC Club for your help over the years.

Man are you right, I was stationed there in the Navy and used to peruse their store, their prices where just to much for me, always went to computer depot warehouse(talk about rude), they seemed to have great prices if you can get through all their damn check points.

But it was still better than Best Buy or CompUSA.

Yeah, you are right also, but BB and Compusa along with Fry's was great to go look at items that you can see and check out verses trying to figure out online. Only problem I had with the small stores is the customer service was weak, their prices where pretty good and they could always get what you want, Micro PC outlet was my fav.

vote McCain to keep the good times rolling

Vote Obama and make it even worse. You know all those social programs he wants to run cost money. Guess where it comes from, you and your employer. Like either one of you need more expenses right now. Just keep voting for change, to bad that change equals socialism.

HQ check in. LAHQ ppl did not see this coming until the meeting was held on 12 PM. We were told it was over and were asked to pack our belongings. HQ managers knew about this around 11 AM, when we are called into the meeting room.

NLancester, jmike134, I do share your pains... I look after all the stores daily for the last 8 years.

OKOK did a great job as one of the best stores. You and Charlie should be proud, jmike134. We are not treating OKOK as an "isolated island" and it hurts so much for me to see my co-workers go.

I thought they were still open. They seriously downsized though. Closed the Palmdale store with a sign on the door saying that the closest was now in Santa Clarita. (i wont drive that far just to check the clearance rack)

Their website is still up and running.

I assume ClubIT.com will be going down shortly as well?

Yikes I would hate to place an order with them now..

ATTROX.....
If I knew who you were, I'd thank you proper like....since I don't, I'll thank you anyway.
The last few months were hard on everyone that worked for PCC. Especially those that were there long enough to know how the company use to be ran and the quality of the man sitting in the main chair.

To all sales/tech and people in HQ who knew what they were doing, thanks for the good times =)

And no, we're not going to do firesales.

It sucked.. the fact of the matter is that we KNEW this was coming. the day we closed 14 stores i thought it was over then. at least i got another weeks pay out of it.. i think.. well see.. as far as how i feel about NAOC they can suck it.. They gave me faith that somthing was going to be done.. i still have my copy of the press release that states they have 200 mil available to them. LIES.. its been a fun 3 years in some ways the easiest job i have ever had however.. our store went though 5 store managers in 3 years 2 were fired for stealing and one for loss.. no one ever listened to me about making LP better so i'm not surprised if other stores had similar problems. i think what we did to our customers was the worst thing of all. locking there computers in the store after we closed.. with nothing to do except call the head office and what do they get out of that? is anyone even there. The website is still up you can shop up untill checkout someone left the button but removed the script.. NICE!!! im sure thats going to leave a good taste in the mouths of our online customers. it just seems like no one was ever thinking. those of us who stayed the second time around showed the ultimate dedication. underpaid by industry standards we reached a point that we could no longer service customers with anything except basic software problems. with no mobo's no psu's no HDD's and no OS's there was nothing we could do for anyone i got sick and tired of telling people to go to the shop down the street. I now regret coming back to NAOC's lies. If this is some sham to close the stores and re-open under a different name you can bet I wont be there I wont shop there and i wont recommend the tech services to ANYONE. I stayed with this company because i beleved in what it was when i was hired.. I watched 2 groups of upper management dig the hole. and NAOC came along and drove the nails in the coffin and shoved it on in..
good luck to you other guys out there. I think it sucks to be back searching for a job in a market that sucks. But honestly i'm happy that it is finally done..

Hi JMike314,

I've been with the company when Jackson was still the president. My service for all stores are not perfect, but I tried my best to fix "bug" immediately in timely manner.

I am dissappointed, but yet I feel grateful that the roller coaster ride is finally over. I salute to you, Charlie, Tim and our store people, that through all of these, we still maintain integrity and choose to do the right thing for our customers.

The reason that HQ instructed stores not to release any repairs after the "announcement" is because all operations (including invoice, service release) need to stop immediately when Chapter 7 is filed.

Haha I'm sorry but why do so many management type people utterly fail at writing and typing proper sentences? My old manager was horrible at it as well. It's like in order to be management, you have you give up all your writing/typing/and or spelling skills and write in incomplete sentences.
