Also, what exactly is the point of removing all your energy shield for mana with EB? I just don't get it.
Mana regeneration is a percentage of your total pool per second, the larger your pool, the more regen you get. Taking EB lets you perma-run arctic armor which has insane defensive properties.
Obviously you still need life, but it's a very viable option depending on your build.
Edit: Actually looked at the posted build, definitely an emphasis on health, using EB to get the free regen from whatever ES based armor you might be wearing. This build also has crit chance / mult stacked so high it's probably more effective than taking additional freeze chance nodes (his crits are going to freeze regardless)
I guess this goes back to having to make the choice between stuff huh? So basically if he wants to go all the way over to Vaal Pact, he then has to choose between critting or flat damage boosts. This build also has crit chance / mult stacked so high it's probably more effective than taking additional freeze chance nodes (his crits are going to freeze regardless)
They all have merits, but all have drawbacks.. I believe CI is the most popular of them all. But towards the upper levels, if you're not running a shavs with lots of es, you're kinda screwed. Witches are a lil up in the air, atm.. After respec, I'm doing this, cold-crit, hp/es. Waiting to roll CI (i'm poor!)

Before I was FP and getting knocked around, now my hp are a bit better, my ES is a little lower like, 200 points, not running an aura, but i've switched up fp to Ice Spear for the added dps.. it went up like 1.5k. it's sad. and the crit just helps. it's.. fun, again. I haven't run any aura's yet, but disc and clar were in my group. i believe disc is still the same. will check after a good nap.
Thanks for the advice, and linking your tree. It's very close to what i'm after too, so it helped a bunch.
I'm only 24 atm, and i started with freezing pulse, but once i got glacial cascade i've been primarily using that. I stopped keeping up with the game so i didn't even know about this move. It seems to kick so much ass! I with they would tailor DPS numbers to accurately reflect the dps of a move, because they're way off. Glacial cascade kills faster than freezing pulse, but freezing pulse has a WAY higher DPS. Doesn't make any sense to me.
I'll eventually swap out glacial cascade with another Ice Spear with GMP, as that can clear huge groups with ease.
Did they shrink the radius of low-level curses? Grabbed Assassin's Mark, and it seems absolutely TINY! One thing I'd really love some clarification on is how the extra crit from Assassin's Mark works. It seems like if your spell crits, it's going to crit everything it hits, rather than rolling a separate chance to crit for every enemy it hits. How, then, does the extra crit from a curse like this work? If two enemies are standing side-by-side, one cursed and the other not, and gets hit by a single spell simultaneously.... does the curse benefit the chance to crit?
I'm curious about your cold penetration / intelligence comment. What do you mean exactly?I don't think they shrunk much. How high is your int? I'd love to see your tree. It seems the higher the int, the less you have to worry about as far as cold penetration works.. i'd like to know your feedback about it. I'm online now, if you have questions. i'm not running curses, but am damn well about to. Gonna play around with assassin's mark and temporal chains... i think temp chains is our new friend for cwdt.
Hey memnoch are you playing on Rampage? If you want a good cold crit build let me know. I'm currently farming docks at level 63 with low to decent gear and I'm still permafreezing white+magic mobs and it only takes me 10 shots to kill a unique boss or even a rogue exile. Don't even have to curse with normal/magic mobs and just blowing past em.
I'm running through zones from mud flats to sarn over and over just to spot the random spawns of the masters so that, if I get dropped from the game because my internet goes out, I can still do the daily once my connection comes bak online.
I'm curious about your cold penetration / intelligence comment. What do you mean exactly?
Here's my spec so far, though it's in its infancy and rather boring atm. I'm really still uncertain as to what i'm going to do, which is a bad way to be spending talent points i know lol

I think the fact that i'm having such a hard time choosing what i want to grab is evidence that they rebuilt the witch area quite well. Before it seemed like an easy choice. Now it'd be nice to have enough points for EVERYTHING!
I'm still torn between going full frost, full crit, or a blend of both. But i'm almost certain now after pouring over the talent tree for a bit, that they make you choose now. I don't recall having to make this choice before. On my previous build many patches ago, i had all the cold talents, and all the crit talents available. Tough having to mix it up now.
I'm making this new Frost/Crit witch in the rampage league, so i'd love to see your build. I'd also be interested in knowing what skillgems you're using.

Not related to builds or mechanics, I must take a moment and gush about the current state of the game. Desync is still there, and that sucks. But overall I cannot believe how far the game has come since the last time I played, which was before the Vaal Corruption patch i think. The gameplay is so fleshed out and refreshing now, it just blows my mind. All these new things to do while playing. I'm just running the normal content, but am constantly surprised by fun little additions which really bring great diversity to the game.
- Shrines
- Rogue Exiles
- Strongboxes
- Corrupted Areas
- Forsaken Masters
It just all adds up to a more entertaining experience. You never know what you'll stumble across. It also seems there's a lot more unique bosses that you bump into as well. Really digging it overall.
I didn't realize they were dailies. When do they reset? 24h after you complete? or on a set schedule? At the reset the master will no longer be in town and you'll have to find em eh?

I can't find the references right now so some of my details may be slightly off....
- Daily missions are only available for masters in your hideout. They reset every 24 hours at a time I can't recall but it seems to be in the neighborhood of 8:00 pm central daylight time.
- Masters which you have encountered may always be found in town (or in your hideout). They also spawn randomly in various instances (similarly to corrupted area spawning) but this is not in any way influenced by whether or not they're in town or in your hideout. The random encounters are also completely separate from daily missions.
- Daily missions give an increased level of experienced gain with a master so if there's one you're trying to level up, put them in your hideout so you can do their daily missions.

choco here's the skill tree I plan on using
https://poebuilder.com/character/AA...TniaVYeJVSxa_cFKJ03DVtUjz6ioLnao2PW1sYqxsjA==
I have 2 skills I mainly use
1. Ice Nova for AOE, Killing mobs
a) Links are Added Lightning Damage, Elemental Proliferation, Cold Penetration
2. Freezing Pulse for Single Target or to kill a couple monsters really fast
a) Links are Faster Casting, Spell Echo, Lesser Multiple Projectiles (Might change to GMP later)
The idea behind the Ice nova was to stack shock and freeze chance on skill tree then use proliferate to spread it. The shock stacks increases the ice dmg for long freezes. Even on a 4 link it works like a charm. I am permafreezing mobs and doing a ton of damage even though tooltip dps only says 1900. Ice Nova also hits everything and has a pretty huge AOE. You can even use increased AOE as the 5th link since it already does a ton of damage. I found with freezing pulse and glacial cascade, the spells wouldn't hit an entire mob cause most mobs are spread out. Freezing pulse doesn't even have great range and glacial cascade's AOE is a joke. Ice Nova absolutely hits almost everything on screen. The reason this works now is because the shock passives and freeze passives go up to 25% and are relatively close to each other unlike the old skill tree.
Edit: If you wanna see it used in game send me a PM or msg me in game: IGN is IceyYupi
Side comment, Freezing pulse has good range, you just need to pair it with faster projectiles, and it'll go past the screen
Holy crap really? I was always wondering how the hell the FP builds worked every time I tried I got my ass kicked lol. Ill have to give that a try next time.
It's sad-nasty how well it works with ice spear. I'm using it now. Apparently, the whole ice/freeeze business is based off of INT, and it spreads well with elelm. prolif. I would love it if LeninGhola would chime in, as he knows this area well.(cold crit witch builds)..
Cold is technically the dex(green) element, with fire being the strength(red) and lightning being the int(blue) element. However, virtually all active gems that do damage are int(blue) anyway.Apparently, the whole ice/freeeze business is based off of INT, and it spreads well with elelm. prolif. I would love it if LeninGhola would chime in, as he knows this area well.(cold crit witch builds)..

Yes, and if it's a quality added lightning it's capable of shocking without critting as well (low chance though, up to 10% depending on quality).Interesting setup. Is a single Added Lightening Damage gem capable of adding shock stacks on crit?
what happend?
25 uniques? holy shit. Still only seen one on my new league character, and she's almost lvl 40.
They still need a better way to trade in this game. Trying to sell a unique you don't want in chat is really annoying, as in it doesn't work.
Thanks for the tips, Sn0_Man, I'm happy to know that Blood Rage can work without CI.
Sadly as my RF dude couldn't sustain it before, he definitely wont be able to do it now. Wonder why they made it harder, rabble!
edit: Damn, resolute technique is one hell of a trip from the shadow starting area. Was it moved? I may have to reroll this fellow as a duelist.
The one unique I happened to get in the new league, which i even used on my previous claw-shadow, is the Slitherpinch gloves. Is this a good item or will it be replaced end game?
