I have 2 computers (say computer A and computer B), which are connected to a router then to a broadband connection. Computer A belongs to me and computer B belongs to my brother. The internet connection and LAN are very slow (pinging the router loses a lot of packets) on computer B, while computer A is fast.

We have tried changing computer B's network card, network cable, motherboard/CPU but the packetloss is still there.

I brought my computer (A) to his room, and everything works great. I bring his computer (B) to my room, and it works great! What is wrong with his computer?

Both computers are using a new install of Windows XP Professional with SP2.

It sounds like cable interferance except for the fact that your PC works fine in his room. I dunno, that sounds a bit odd that everything works just fine by moving the pc, but another pc put in the same location also works fine.

I have tried all ports on the router/switch and all the combinations of 10/100 and full/half duplex.

I am gonna try putting a hub instead of the router to see if there is any differences.
