I am using charter communications here in upstate SC. 16 mbps down and I dont recall how much up. I have a router with the dd-wrt firmware on it which has the ability to monitor bandwidth. as far as I know Charter isnt throttling my torrents, I regularly max out my speeds. One problem though is that sometimes my internet will shutoff for hours to days at a time. my router releases is DHCP supplied IP address and does not renew it no matter how many times I restart it or unplug things.
This has happened several times recently and I am thinking it has something to do with the torrents. Looking at the bandwidth logs and graphs I cannot see any relation to the amount of data sent/received and the suspension in service. I have phone from them aswell as cable television and both have worked flawlessly all the time despite what is going on with the internet. Have any ideas?
