Opty overclock on eVGA 131-K8-NF44-AX NF4

Can some one help me to oc this thing? I put in a Opty 144 recently to see how much oc i can do. But i put the cpu frequency to 300 and it just underclocks the cpu to 1.78 ghz. Is it just the cpu that can t oc or is it the mobo? I have a Gemini 2 on it.

you re probably not going to be able to push the FSB to more than 240... while the bios does allow you to go up to 300, that doesn t necessarily mean it works. the only 300 FSB mATX board for socket 939 (that I know of) was the Biostar TForce 6100-939. I m running my eVGA board at 235 x 12 for 2.8Ghz on a x2 4800+, your opteron 144 has a multiplier of 9 so 2.2Ghz is probably the best you can hope for.

yeah, 240 was the max fsb i had on my 3800+x2 on the nf44, sucks that they never fixed the issue of the board not actually applying the changes to core voltage.
 
I had a bunch of socket 939 matx board back in the day.

Without a doubt the best overclocker of the bunch is the DFI RS482.

However, that board has some rather archaic and/or old onboard features that may not make it too attractive otherwise.
 
Thank all you guys. I got it up to 2.178 with the multipliers at 9 and the fsb at 242.2 will try 250 later on. And ya back in the day I always wanted that dfi board and a opty 165. It was my dream build, along with a 7900gt or a x1900xt! Lol
 
seems like you about maxed out that board you have there.

The DFI board I had did manage to run my 165 opt at 300HTT so that is the board to get for matx overclocking if you can find one.
 
Oh no way. I down graded just so i could have this board! Will get sli soon enough. :D I use to have a abit f-i90hd and a e6300 at 2.6ghz but sold to a friend and got this board a fx 60 and a sliverstone psu. best thing i have done!
 
Pushed it to 245 and now I am sitting at 2.2. Yay! Lol thanks guys! Maybe i could try to get it to 248. :D:p:confused:
 
Went to 248 fsb and thats were imma stop. Seems good enough for me. Thanks for everyones help!
